The official Instagram account of The Witcher also posted the same photos, captioned with: “Good day to everyone in Blaviken who told Geralt that he needed new clothes. And what will destiny bring tomorrow?”

Fans were extremely excited with the new photos, with one writing: “Looking forward to season 2!! can’t wait such a great show!”

Fans were just as excited in August when Netflix revealed that they had resumed production for the second season, after it was put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Stephen Surjik, who directed two episodes in its first season, revealed the news on his Instagram Story at the time.

“It’s T minus 3 min to ignition and lift off for our second run at Witcher S2. Everyone is being cautious but spirits are high,” he wrote.

The official Twitter page also told fans that they were back on, in the form of a poem that is straight out of the fantasy series.

They wrote: “I’m dusting off my lute and quill/I have some news, some mead to spill. After all the months we’ve been apart/It’s time for production to restart. The Witcher and his bard - who’s flawless/Will reunite on set 17 August.”

There has been no word on the release date for season two just yet.

Despite the show being halted, Netflix had commissioned season two before the first season had even aired last year, successfully predicting how popular the show was going to be.

76 million households watched the show, which was a record for a first season on Netflix.

Last month, Netflix also announced that there would be a prequel series called Blood Origin.

The limited six-part series will be set in the Elven world approximately 1,200 years before the Netflix The Witcher is set.

While The Witcher season one was filmed in Budapest, however Blood Origin will be filmed in the UK.

No release date has been set for Blood Origin either.
