The Harry Potter reunion is just weeks away, and fans have been given an exciting glimpse of the magic to come.

A newly released trailer for Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts – which drops on Binge on January 1 – teases the return of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint as well as the entire extended cast as they prepare to reunite at the Warner Bros. set in London for the first time in a decade.

The 40-second clip opens on a shot of the front page of the fictional Daily Prophet, which reads: “Special edition. Hogwarts welcomes back alumni,” as Helena Bonham Carter – who played death eater Bellatrix Lestrange – peers her head over the newspaper.

It then flashes to Scottish actor Robbie Coltrane, who played Hagrid, receiving a Hogwarts letter while sitting in a coffee shop in Chelsea, London.

Next, we see English actor Mark Williams (Arthur Weasley) oozing excitement on-board the Hogwarts Express, before finally, a woman who appears to be Watson (Hermione Granger) is seen from behind walking on Platform 9 ¾.

Diehard fans – affectionately known as Potterheads – have taken to social media en masse to express their excitement over the upcoming special.

The special – following the success of the Friends reunion earlier this year – will stream on Binge* on New Year’s Day in Australia, at the same time as the rest of the world.

The main trio will be joined by filmmaker Chris Columbus and a host of other cast members as they reunite two decades after the premiere of the debut film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Co-stars also set to feature in it include Bonham Carter, Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch and Ian Hart, among others.

Author J.K. Rowling is not scheduled to appear in the special, following backlash over her controversial transgender comments.

According to an official press release, the reunion will “tell an enchanting making-of story through all-new, in-depth interviews and cast conversations”.

In addition, Binge will also stream the four-part special event Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses, hosted by Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren, from January 15, while all eight films are also available to stream on the platform.
