Disney+ fans are fuming after the streaming announced when it’ll crackdown on password sharing.

The streamer follows rival Netflix who controversially started the idea last year despite famously tweeting “love is sharing a password”.

And it all comes after subscription prices were recently hiked.

Disney is hoping to turn fortunes around by banning account holders from sharing their password with viewers outside their household.

You will still be able to share them with those you live with.

The US entertainment giant has warned that a password sharing ban was on the horizon for some time now.

Disney started warning existing subscribers of a rule change in March.

But boss Bob Iger has finally revealed that the streamer will start enforcing the crackdown in June.

He told CNBC that it’ll land in “just a few countries in a few markets” to begin and expand to all subscribers in September.

It’s not clear how the firm intends to track rule breakers but if it’s anything like Netflix they will be looking for IP addresses.

Netflix users who attempt to log into devices away from their main household are greeted with a message blocking them.

But individuals can pay a smaller extra fee to continue piggybacking.

Disney bosses recently revealed that they too intend to charge an extra fee for additional users, though the exact cost hasn’t be announced.

Disney+ subscribers have threatened to cancel their accounts after the latest blow.

“Will cancel immediately,” one fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Just giving folks another reason to cancel the service,” another wrote.

“It gets worse,” a third added. “The Disney+ subscription changed & now they have ads.”
