Foxtel and Amazon Prime Video integrate in new streaming deal

Foxtel customers will soon be able to stream Amazon Prime Video via their set-top box as part of a new streaming deal announced today.

Foxtel subscribers will be able to directly access Amazon Prime as part of a new deal to integrate the streamers.

Feeding the streaming audience’s need for convenience, The Foxtel Group* and Amazon Prime Video today announced an agreement to combine the Prime Video app into Foxtel set-top boxes by the end of 2021.

The new partnership will allow Foxtel customers with iQ3 and iQ4 boxes, as well as the soon to be launched iQ5 box, to stream Amazon Prime’s movies and shows from its platform.

Users will need a login to Amazon Prime to stream its content, but the app will be accessible from Foxtel’s carousel.

This opens up Foxtel’s streaming offerings to shows like Luxe Listings Sydney, Making Their Mark and The Test: A New Era for Australia’s Team as well as the upcoming Back to the Rafters and Nine Perfect Strangers.

Amazon Original also has a host of hit new movies including The Tomorrow War starring Chris Pratt, Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse with Michael B Jordan and the award-winning Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.

Foxtel announced an identical deal with Netflix in 2019 as it continues to evolve its customer experience.

Foxtel unveils its new interface with Amazon Prime to join later this year.

ABC iview, SBS on Demand and YouTube are also available on Foxtel’s interface.

Foxtel’s Group Chief Executive Officer Patrick Delany said the agreement was a “significant milestone” in Foxtel’s transformation strategy, adding, “bringing another entertainment powerhouse to our Foxtel customers and giving them convenient access to even more world-class entertainment.”

“It accelerates our strategy for Foxtel to be an aggregator of the world’s best streaming content.”

Luxe Listings Sydney is one of Amazon Prime’s popular new series’.

“By distributing with leading subscription television services like Foxtel, Prime Video’s content will be even more accessible to entertainment hungry Australians.

“This launch will also allow more of our customers to access the Prime Video Store and rent or buy their favourite new release and classic movies via the Foxtel set-tops.”

The Amazon Prime Video app will be available to Foxtel subscribers by the end of 2021.
