Emma Watkins noticeably absent from Wiggles documentary premiere

Wiggles members past and present reunited for the release of the group’s new documentary - but one popular member was nowhere to be seen.

The entire Wiggles family came together on Thursday evening to celebrate the release of the group’s new Amazon Prime documentary.

Well, almost all of their beloved stars...

Hot Potato: The Story of The Wiggles exposes the backstage drama behind the world’s biggest children’s group.

Original Wiggles Jeff Fatt, Murray Cook, Greg Page and Anthony Field were all smiles as they marked the momentous occasion with other members of the group from over the years.

Sadly, there was one glaring omission in the shape of Emma Watkins.

Watkins officially parted way with The Wiggles in 2021 after spending nine years in her yellow skivvies.

She was the first=ever woman to join the group, and proved to be a huge hit with fans during her time with them.

However, sadly Watkins wasn’t there to celebrate the doc’s release with her fellow Wiggles co-stars.

She was instead on the other side of the country in Perth, with a book signing of her latest release Emma Memma’s Alphabet Day scheduled for the morning after the premiere.

In fact, Watkins - who is interviewed in the doco - hasn’t alluded to the release of the new documentary on her social media at all over the past few months.

The children’s entertainer was famously once married to Purple Wiggle Lachy Gillespie.

Lachy and Watkins first met in 2010 when they were touring the Dorothy the Dinosaur show, and began dating around three years later.

They seemed to be the perfect match, only to leave fans stunned back in 2018 when they announced their separation on Instagram following a trial split.

Despite their breakup, the pair seemingly remained on good terms, and have publicly shared their support for each other over the years.

Both have also since gone on to remarry. Watkins married Oliver Brian, who works with The Wiggles as a musician, while Lachy married Wiggles dancer Dana Stephensen.

While Watkins was away in Perth, Lachlan and Stephensen were all smiles on the red carpet at the documentary’s premiere, making a rare public appearance together as a couple.

Meanwhile, Hot Potato: The Story of The Wiggles comes out October 24 on Prime Video, and gives some insight into the tragic moment one of the group almost died onstage.

One of the original Wiggles, Greg Page, suffered a life-threatening heart attack during a reunion show back in 2020.

As the events unfolded in real time, Watkins revealed in the documentary that she was one of the first to notice something was horribly wrong.

“Being there onstage I could see Greg and he was signalling me to stand in. Almost like he knows something is about to happen,” she said.

Thankfully, Page ended up making a full recovery, and appeared to be happy and healthy at the premiere on Thursday.
