Binge series Love Me renewed for season 2
A local TV series starring Hugo Weaving, which has the most drama nominations at this Sunday’s Logies, has been renewed for a second season.
Australian TV series Love Me has officially been given the green light for a second season.
The six-part drama, starring Hugo Weaving and Bojana Novakovic, premiered on Boxing Day and quickly became streamer Binge’s most watched local series.
It also has the most drama nominations at this Sunday’s Logies, with seven nominations including Most Outstanding Series and Most Popular Drama Series.
Directed by celebrated Australian director Emma Freeman (Stateless, Secret City, Glitch), Love Me followed the stories of three different members from the Mathiesons family as they experienced love at distinct times of their lives: Clara (Bojana Novakovic), Glen (Hugo Weaving), and Aaron (William Lodder).
Vote for Love Me at this year's TV Week Logies, in categories including Most Popular Drama, Most Popular Actor and Most Popular Actress. Voting closes June 19.
Binge executive director Alison Hurbert-Burns said the show had an “incredible response” from viewers, and they were thrilled to be starting shooting again in Melbourne.
“(Viewers) have resonated with this modern story of love, life and loss. We are excited to work with the talented creatives and cast, along with our production partner Warner Bros. to bring the next chapter of Love Me to life,” she said.
Meanwhile, Warner Bros managing director Michael Brooks teased life for the central characters would get “even more complicated.”
“Love Me is a reflection of the complex family dynamics many Australians experience in real life, which is why audiences have embraced this beautifully crafted series,” he said.
“All credit goes to our brilliant cast and our incredibly talented writers and crew. We are thrilled Binge has commissioned season 2 of Love Me, life for the Mathiesons family is about to get even more complicated.”
