Acclaimed Australian series The Twelve scores second season
The second season of Sam Neill’s drama The Twelve has been announced, with filming to begin in Western Australia in the coming months.
Sam Neill’s acclaimed Australian series The Twelve has been given the green light to start production on a second season.
BINGE and Screenwest announced this morning that the award-winning series will begin production in Western Australia later this year, a change from the NSW filming locations used in season one of the courtroom drama.
“WA we are coming! BINGE is bringing The Twelve, one of Australia’s most premium and awarded drama series, to Western Australia with production set to begin in the coming months,” Alison Hurbert-Burns, BINGE’s executive director, said in a statement about the series, which is commissioned by The Foxtel Group.
“We can’t wait to be on ground working with local creatives and talent to bring this gripping series to life, showcasing Perth along with the incredible WA countryside.”
The Twelve is a crime drama which revolves around a jury sitting a controversial murder trial. However, the 12 ordinary Australians on the jury are also facing their own major struggles in their everyday lives.
The show is adapted from a Belgian series, with the Australian version starring Neill, Marta Dusseldorp, Kate Mulvany and Brooke Satchwell.
There is no word yet on which stars will be returning for season two.

Season one launched to critical reviews and dominated at local awards shows. The series won three of its 10 AACTA nominations in 2022, including Best Miniseries, and is also the most nominated drama series at this year’s TV Week Logie Awards.
News of the season comes after the WA Production Attraction Incentive was announced last year – an initiative designed to attract high-profile productions to the state.
“Enticing a high-calibre, premium series like The Twelve to film in Western Australia is an incredible outcome following the launch of the WA Production Attraction Incentive last year,” said David Templeman, Minister for Culture and the Arts.
“The Twelve will be the biggest-ever production to take place in Western Australia, and we are excited to work with Binge, Warner Bros International Television Production Australia and Easy Tiger as they embark on producing this second series. We look forward to welcoming more projects like this to WA.
“We have fantastic local talent, breathtaking locations and incentives on offer – Western Australia is open for business.”
