A VERY clever weather presenter and obvious Star Wars fan has managed to squeeze an impressive 12 puns from the film into a 40-second broadcast.

The British weather girl, who tells viewers the “weather strikes back but don’t be a trooper and please take care on the roads”, opened Wednesday’s segment with what appeared to be a normal Channel 5 report. But she dropped her first pun within seconds.

“Hi there, well it’s another unusually mild day today with a Leia of cloud covering the UK — but if you Luke father west you’ll be seeing a Leia of sunshine, if you’re Wookie,” Sian Welby said.

Sian Welby won the hearts of Star Wars fans everywhere with her amusing and clever report.

Then there’s the “if you’re forced to awaken early” pun, and she even dared her followers to count the number of puns in her report.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opened in cinemas around the world this week, much to the excitement of fans and, evidentially, weather presenters.

Welby’s efforts didn’t go unnoticed by fans either with many applauding her on Twitter for her fine work, with the YouTube clip already notching up an impressive 320,000 views.

Welby remained a good sport, thanking her followers for the Twitter love.

And may the force be with you, Ms Welby.

It wasn’t the first time Welby impressed movie buffs with her talent for puns.

In October last year, she celebrated Back To The Future Day with another pun-filled forecast mentioning Hill Valley, time machine and 1.21 gigawatts.
