Sons of Anarchy’s bloody ride into the sunset

AFTER seven seasons of death, double-dealing and destruction, Sons of Anarchy is roaring to a conclusion. Just don’t expect a peaceful ride into the sunset.

Sons of Anarchy - 'Final ride'

THERE have been few light moments as cult The Sopranos-meets-bikies hit Sons of Anarchy careers towards its bloody end.

But with just two episodes remaining of the hit series, SoA cast members used a rare late-night appearance on late-night US talk show Conan recently to blow off some steam.

SoA creator Kurt Sutter was in fine form as he revealed his ‘fantasy’ ending to the series, featuring tortured SAMCRO Club president Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) on a Vespa scooter.

“My fantasy ending, just to create absolute havoc among the fans, is that the last scene of the last episode Jax wakes up from a dream and he’s on a Vespa pulling into a Starbucks,” Sutter told Conan O’Brien.

Meanwhile, one former and another existing member of the SoA cast will continue with their penchant for playing crims after SoA’s final ride.

Scottish actor Tommy Flanagan — AKA Chibs on SoA — will channel even darker depths with a recurring role as a major villain and psychopath Martin Black in Revenge.

And Ron Perlman (one-time club president Clay Morrow on SoA) will face off against James Spader’s enigmatic Red Reddington in the mid-season return episode of The Blacklist.

Meanwhile, with two episodes to go, Sutter is keeping up the SoA tease — even while he was working on the show mid-season he claimed he only had ‘an idea’ of how the show would end.

“I always had a sense of where I wanted it to go. And I’ve learned that, over seven seasons now, the looser I grip that idea, the better the seasons are,” he told TV critics.

We’re tipping after seven seasons of death, double-dealing, destruction and mayhem, this week’s penultimate and next week’s final episode won’t see SAMCRO riding off peacefully off into the sunset.

“I can say this fairly confidently, that I don’t think anything we’ve ever done, no matter how obscure or outrageous, has been inorganic, has been unbelievable, as a result of the heightened circumstances and the players involved,” Sutter said.

“So the absurdity has crossed the line for me to a certain extent. It’s not that my goal is to disturb people, but I also want that reaction to when beloved characters go away. I want people to be upset.”

Meanwhile Sutter’s wife, Katey Sagal, who plays bikie club matriarch Gemma (who has now been found out as the killer of her daughter-in-law on the show) in a rare interview recently admitted lots of tears were shed during filming of the killer mother-and-son confrontation between Gemma and Jax.

“I sometimes wonder if Gemma really thought she could get away with all of this,” she said.
