Sad news for Grant Denyer as another one of his shows is axed by Ten

Just days after his surprise defeat on I’m A Celeb, Channel Ten has reportedly axed one of Grant Denyer’s popular game shows.

Abbie Chatfield is crowned winner of I'm A Celebrity (I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!)

Channel 10 has reportedly made some changes to its programming schedule.

Grant Denyer’s Celebrity Name Game has reportedly been axed, which will no doubt come as a blow for the Gold Logie-winner after his surprise defeat on I’m A Celeb this week.

Late last year it was reported that Dancing with the Stars would not return to our screens in 2021, which Denyer hosted with Amanda Keller.

“We have decided to hang up our dancing shoes, lycra pants and sequined jackets for the time being,” a network spokesperson said at the time.

“We would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to all those involved in the show, in particular Amanda Keller and Grant Denyer, who were fabulous hosts, as well as all the judges, dancers, the stars and of course the crew.”

Dancing with the Stars started in Australia in 2004 to 2015 on Channel 7. It then moved to Channel 10 in 2019 with their brand new hosts Denyer and Keller.

TV Tonight has reported that three other major shows have also been axed.

The AFL-themed WAG drama Playing for Keeps was on the list, with the show last airing in 2019. Head of Programming Daniel Monoghan told the publication that, after two seasons, it’s “not coming back.”

Next on the list is the courtroom-style reality show Trial by Kyle, fronted by KIIS FM’s Kyle Sandilands.

The show was heavily inspired by Judge Judy, with contestants seeking help for their petty grievances from Kyle and lawyer/Bachelor alum Anna Heinrich.

As the publication notes, it was most likely Kyle’s decision not to bring the show back.

“He hates it. He talks about it on the radio. It’s not coming back. Just ask him! I really liked it and I like Kyle, but it’s not returning,” said Monaghan.

One Born Every Minute Australia was also on the list of shows not returning.

Interestingly,TV Black Box reported two further shows have also been cancelled.

The iconic Totally Wild is said to also be coming to an end, after 29 years on the network.

The publication also reports that its sister show Scope is also getting the cut.

A Network 10 spokesperson told the publication:

“Network 10 today informed staff that Totally Wil d and Scope will no longer be produced, which will result in a reduction of roles.”

“Network 10 remains committed to creating and producing local children’s content, but its strategy has evolved to include the development and production of more children’s drama programs.

“The Network 10 children’s department will remain an integral part of the business and will remain based in Brisbane.

“As a result of these shows no longer being produced, some on-air presenters and production staff will leave Network 10. The network would like to thank those people for their dedication and hard work.

“No further details are available at this stage.”
