Why Blake Colman wanted to quit The Bachelorette

BLAKE was banished from The Bachelorette mansion in a fit of rage last night. But way before that, he wanted to quit.

Bachelorette evictee Blake reveals why he wanted to quit the show

MOST guys would jump at the chance to date Sophie Monk — but not latest Bachelorette evicted Blake Colman.

At least, originally.

In last night’s episode of the reality TV dating show, the entrepreneur was sent home from the mansion after a bit of a disastrous home visit to Perth.

Even so, he appeared absolutely blindsided by Sophie’s decision to kick him out, throwing a huge tantrum as he exited the property.

Despite the fact he’s since cooled down and apologised to the former Bardot star — “We’re cool now,” he told news.com.au — Blake confessed that there was a point when he actually wanted to quit the show.

Speaking to Nova’s Chrissie, Sam and Browny, Blake revealed that once he knew Sophie was the Bachelorette, he wanted to pull out of the whole thing.

“I got contacted and I thought: ‘Hey this could be pretty cool,’ you know, meet a cool chick. “And then it was shown that Sophie was going to be on and I literally was about to email back saying: ‘Sorry I don’t want to do it’ because I thought she might have just been on it to boost her career,” he explained to the Melbourne breakfast radio show.

“It wasn’t until I saw her on The Project [before filming began] and her response to some of the questions about the perfect date and what she’s looking for that really made me think otherwise.

“She was looking for a best friend, so I went along with it and I was like, ‘hopefully I can be that best friend.’”

Blake was reportedly approached via social media to do the show, explaining that a producer emailed him then sent “a couple of messages on Instagram”.

From an entertainment perspective, he was certainly well-cast — despite making it to the top four in the competition, he was pegged from the beginning as one of the show’s ‘villains’.

That title often comes down to clever editing, but even Blake admits some of his reputation was well-deserved.

“At the start, I will hands-down say I looked like an absolute douche,” he told news.com.au.

“But the boys know who I am and Sophie knows who I am, the public’s just a little bit different.”

Anyone watching the show can easily tell Blake bonded with most of the guys in the house — with one major exception: Jarrod.

The vineyard owner has been hit with the “stage-five clinger” title by fans throughout the series and Blake confirmed that his rival was the same to those inside the house. “He is exactly like that on and off the camera,” he revealed.

So who’s going to win Sophie’s heart in the end?

“It’s definitely been Apollo and Stu — they’re both great guys, they’re genuine,” Blake said.

The Bachelorette airs Wednesday and Thursday nights at 7.30pm on Ten.
