Viewers express their unhappiness with new Voice format
Viewers have expressed their disappointment in the new format of The Voice, calling for it to go back to how it was.
Viewers of The Voice have expressed their distaste for the new format of the show.
Forgoing the usual ‘Battle’ rounds, which come with a huge production and live audience, the show now has ‘The Cut’ segment which is more brutal and very, very rushed.
Now that coaches have unlimited chair turns during the Blind Auditions, it means they have to cut their teams down to only five members before heading off into the ‘Knockouts’ round.
Tuesday night’s episode saw the coaches cut a huge chunk of their team members, namely Rita Ora, who had turned around for 14 different acts.
Deciding to split their teams into smaller categories to help them make their decisions, the coaches went through and made the hard decision, one which saw Rita cut Jess Mauboy’s niece Saraya from her team.
The next episode, which will air Sunday night, will see the five members left on Team Keith fight against the five members of Team Guy.
After the ‘Knockouts’, they will then head toward the live shows.
Unsurprisingly, viewers were not impressed with the new format, as they hardly get to see the artists perform.
“This format doesn’t allow for us to connect with the contestants. Couldn’t care less who wins when people are dumped after a 10 second sound bite,” one person wrote on social media.
“This whole cut experience was so sh***y, they got rid of so many people who we had all grown to love and we barely had time to see them go,” another said.
“The ‘cut’ was grossly unfair and terrible TV. So disappointing for viewers,” another remarked, with a different user adding: “Silly format, lost interest quickly”.
The Voice continues on Channel 7 on Sunday night at 7pm
