TV personality Katie Hopkins eats 4,000 calories a day to shame the obese
OUTSPOKEN TV personality Katie Hopkins set out to nearly double her body weight by consuming upwards of 4,000 calories a day for three months — and then lose the weight to prove a point.
FOR years, outspoken British TV personality Katie Hopkins has criticised overweight people — saying they’re fat because they’re lazy — and preaching that obesity can be solved by simply eating less and exercising more.
And she’s willing to throw her weight behind her controversial opinion. Hopkins, 40, set out to nearly double her body weight, by consuming upwards of 4,000 calories a day for three months — and then losing the pounds in an attempt to prove her theory true.
Her journey is documented in a two-part TLC special, My Fat Story, which premieres in the UK on Friday.
The first episode follows Hopkins’ weight gain and the psychological changes that come with being unhappy in her body as she confronts other overweight people to hear their responses to her outspoken views.
In the second episode, Hopkins attempts to lose the weight through self-discipline and meets with other people struggling with weight loss, and ultimately must decide if her prejudices have changed as a result of the experiment.
Hopkins said back in September that she took on the challenge to prove overweight people should “stop blaming everyone else for problems they can control”.
She has previously stated she believes “fat people need to look in the mirror, look at themselves, and realise it’s their fault”
Hopkins has now taken to Twitter overnight to reveal her new documentary will soon be shown in Australia.
