Tully Smyth reveals relationship with Big Brother’s Drew was an “ill-timed choice”
AIN’T hindsight grand? Following Big Brother’s cheating controversy, former housemate Tully Smyth has opened up about her own cheating affair.
AIN’T hindsight grand?
Former Big Brother contestant Tully Smyth has weighed in on the cheating controversy overshadowing the current season’s crop of housemates, revealing her own relationship inside the house was an “ill-timed choice”.
Arguably last year’s most talked about contestant, her fling with Anthony Drew had the nation up in arms after she began an affair with the modest model. All of this while Tully — who claimed to be bisexual — had a girlfriend at the time.

This year has seen a cheating scandal blow the Big Brother house out of the water, after 23-year-old Perth contestant Lawson engaged in a secret fling with another housemate, Cat.
Today it was revealed he “declared his love to Cat just days ago”, despite his five-year relationship outside the house.
Although Lawson backflipped on his feelings towards Cat overnight, the Perth native had previously admitted his feelings for her were “strong”.
“I feel happy when I’m around her and when we’re talking,” he said in an unaired transcript of the confession obtained exclusively by News Corp Australia.
“I enjoy her company, things she has to say, and I listen when she speaks. But it’s very early.”
Later, he revealed he didn’t “know what I feel for Cat”.
Yesterday, in a series of tweets, Smyth empathised with the pair, describing her own situation with Drew as an “ill-timed choice” rather than a mistake.
“It’s impossible to make the general public understand the alien mentality of the Big Brother house,” she wrote.
“I would never refer to @drewanthony88 as a ‘mistake’ but more an ‘ill-timed choice’ ... that being said, it was a hard life lesson to learn.
“At the end of the day, I’m human, Lawson and Cat are human and we make mistakes.”
In the wake of last night's @BBAU9 episode, I will say this and this only: there is no point in me making a comment, because it's impossible

...to make the general public understand the alien mentality of the Big Brother house. Nor could I, or would I, EVER condone cheating-

... no matter what the situation. I feel for Candice and I feel for what Lawson and Cat are going to face once they get back to reality.

At the end of the day, Iâm human, Lawson and Cat are human and we make mistakes. Thatâs all Iâll say on the matter. #BBAU

In a news.com.au confessional, Tully revealed her own feelings of disgrace when watching the blossoming relationship between Cat and Lawson.
“Did my friends and family really have to watch me do this? Is that what Drew and I looked like? Were we that obvious? That ostentatiously flirtatious? And perhaps more importantly, that blatantly disrespectful?
“I found myself yelling to the television screen, probably similar sentiments to the rest of the Australian public: “Do you REALLY have real feelings for him? It’s only been a few weeks!”
“And then I realised I was a total hypocrite.”
Earlier this year, Tully opened up about “just how f***ing tough it is after the bubble bursts” on her blog, Young Blood Social.
“We’re human. We’re people. We have feelings and insecurities. We make mistakes — just like you.”
“Did they force me to make the decisions I made in that house? No. Did they put words in my mouth? No. Did they put me in alien situations where I would act differently to what I perhaps would on the outside world? Yeah, of course.”
She, like Lawson, took responsibility for her outrageous antics on the show, where she was criticised by the Australian public for cheating on girlfriend Tahlia Farrant.
Her fling triggered bitter social media backlash, with viewers calling for “cheating Tully” to be evicted.
At the time of her eviction, she was none the wiser once evicted that her on-screen romance with Drew had led to her being dumped by then-girlfriend Tahlia on Twitter.
Smyth and Drew’s showmance after the fact was short-lived, breaking up in January this year, reported The Daily Telegraph.
