‘There’s no empathy’: Block stars slam show in heated clash

“There’s no empathy”: One particular word from foremen Keith and Dan had The Block contestants Sharon and Ankur absolutely fuming.

Tempers are fraying as this season of The Block enters its final days, with contestants Sharon and Ankur locked in a heated clash with foremen Keith and Dan during Monday’s episode.

And the argument ended with Keith giving the couple a full public apology - the second time in two episodes The Block has ceded to contestants, after Scott Cam apologised to Omar and Oz during Sunday’s episode.

The stoush came as the teams were getting stuck into landscaping week, balancing their budgets to kit out the super-sized blocks around their homes.

For Sharon and Ankur, who had already had their finances frozen due to poor budget management this season, there was a big problem: Their landscaper’s invoice had come in a whopping $26,000 over budget.

“What are we going to do? Ankur, you’re an accountant – have you been over all these figures?” foreman Keith asked the couple.

Ankur immediately bristled at Keith bringing up his day job outside of The Block, telling him: “I don’t think it’s got anything to do with me being an accountant.”

From there, the situation got heated, as both Sharon and Ankur took great offence at Keith mentioning Ankur’s job.

“What’s it got to do with ‘I’m a f***ing accountant’? Seriously,” Ankur fumed as they walked away. “Mate, that’s actually my livelihood, and a bit of an up yours. Don’t bring that into it.”

Soon, they were back confronting Keith and Dan, with Sharon in tears.

“It’s the second time someone’s said something about my husband’s profession. He’s got to work after this, as an accountant. He still has to work! So I just think that this …” said Sharon, trailing off as she broke down in tears.

Sharon broke down in tears as she complained about their treatment.

Ankur once more made his feelings clear about the couple’s treatment by The Block, telling his wife: “Don’t worry about it. You’ve cried so much for this f***ing show, there’s no point. We’ve tried our best, and we sit here and get reamed every f***ing day – I don’t care, mate.”

Clearly stunned by the couple’s reaction, Keith offered Ankur an apology.

“I shouldn’t have brought up you being an accountant. I didn’t know it would offend you like this. I do apologise,” he said.

Ankur accepted the apology, but was still visibly angry as he once again walked off.

“There’s no empathy, there’s no sympathy. F**k it right off,” he said.

Ankur said the show has given them ‘no empathy, no sympathy’.

Away from each other, it was clear both parties had very different views on what had caused Sharon and Ankur to go so far over budget.

“The budget is the budget, and it’s crap for our build. It’s. Too. Small. For. Our. Build,” Sharon said in a piece to camera.

But Keith and Dan disagreed.

“This house is only about 15sq m bigger than other’s houses, which isn’t that big. It’s one room. So, to be that far over the budget? It’s an excuse they’re trying to make up,” Dan said.
