Controversial Block contestant Tanya has opened up about the fallout from this season’s cheating scandal, revealing she tried to quit the show three times and has had to contact police in the wake of Sunday’s finale regarding abuse sent to her home.

Make-up artist Tanya finally confessed the truth about the cheating scandal during Sunday’s finale, admitting it was her who took the top-secret photo of The Block’s production schedule back in the first week of filming – and not the mysterious tradie she’d blamed it on all season.

The resulting scandal dominated the entire season, with often uncomfortable scenes as Tanya and her husband Vito protested their innocence to producers and the other contesants.

In a new Instagram post reflecting on the season, Tanya said she wondered why The Block’s producers didn’t axe them from the competition when the controversy first surfaced, and claims she and Vito in fact left the show multiple times.

Tanya and Vito copped a fierce backlash all season.

“I still wonder why they kept us there after all that went down, they knew how hard this was for us. Everyone on set saw how we struggled. We left 3 times due to what we knew would be a disaster for our family. Many times we felt unworthy especially due to the scandal, but they encouraged us to keep going,” she wrote.

Tanya also offered viewers an apology for the scandal, calling it a “fear-based decision” to take the photo, then deny it all season.

“When your (sic) fearful your irrational and when your irrational you make stupid choices and then you dig … so deep that it’s hard to crawl back out.

“I have regrets and so much that I could say about this season but all I really want to say is Sorry, we let so many people down. I did say more on my apology but that was not shown so I want to say it here and now again!”

Tanya wrote that “the humiliation on national television is I can assure you is the biggest punishment of all,” telling her followers that “there have been many dark days, tears, feeling helpless.”

And in a post to her Instagram stories, Tanya revealed a worrying new escalation to the trolling she and Vito had received all season.

“To the person who sent us revolting vile and explicit letters in the mail (rookie mistake), you have been reported to the police! And the authorities will be investigating,” she wrote.

“[Messages like] ‘If I find you on the street, you better watch your back.’ People have called Vito’s business and called my agent because I‘m a makeup artist and left them abusive, abusive comments and emails.”

And yesterday this year’s Block winners Mitch and Mark issued a public plea about their biggest foes this season, telling fans of the show they’ve forgiven Tanya and Vito – so the public should too.

Calling Tanya “the face of the big lie of The Block,” the couple wrote that “she made a mistake. Have you ever made a mistake & tried to cover it up, it gained momentum and before you knew, there was no way out, you’d dug such a big hole you couldn’t see any way out – image doing this on the biggest show on Australian television …

“We’ve had time to talk with Tanya and support her to move forward, please join us and give Tanya a chance, we all deserve it.”
