The Block contestant Ricky Recard has addressed allegations he cheated on his ex-girlfriend with a makeup artist on the show.

The Block contestant Ricky Recard has fobbed off allegations he cheated on his ex-girlfriend with a makeup artist on the show.

Melbourne plumber Recard, who features on this season of the Channel 9 series alongside best mate Haydn Wise, was accused by his ex Lauren Smith of abruptly dumping her for mother-of-two Erin Lee, who worked in the hair and makeup team on-set.

Smith, 30, told the Daily Mail on Monday she was “blindsided” when the 34-year-old ended their relationship shortly after filming wrapped, despite the fact they were about to embark on a holiday to Mexico for her birthday.

Speaking on The Fox’s Fifi Fev & Nick Tuesday, co-host Brendan Fevola point black asked Recard if he was a “love rat”, with the reality star dubbing the statement “a bit harsh”.

“I was pretty shocked. I’m shocked when anyone goes to the media about that sort of stuff, that’s not really my style,” Recard continued on-air.

“I don’t have anything bad to say about her [Smith]. I was lucky enough to meet Erin just before filming started on The Block, on one of the launching days we had down there [Phillip Island].

“The Block is apparently good for a couple of things, it’s not only building dream houses for potential families but also a love story there as well. We’re very happy.”

Ricky is now in a relationship with Erin Lee, a makeup artist on The Block.

Earlier, Smith told Daily Mail she had been looking after Recard’s dogs while he was filming the renovation show earlier this year.

“I spent three months looking after his dogs and his house while also helping his employee with [his plumbing] business. I was absolutely blindsided,” she told the publication.

“We were due to go [on the holiday] at the beginning of July for my 30th birthday but we broke up about two weeks after he got back from filming.

“I found out while I was in Mexico that he had apparently begun a relationship with Erin during the time I was away.”

The Block star said he was “very happy”.

Meanwhile, the new couple went Instagram official on Recard’s account in August with a cosy sunset picture. Recard has since switched his page to private.

“Beach time with this stunner,” Recard captioned the selfie.

Lee, 40, also shared a picture of the two of them, along with the message, “Sometimes the path we never planned leads us to brighter things and the happiness we always needed. Trust the journey.”
