The Bachelor fallout: Nick Cummins fires back in TV stoush

HE’S Australia’s most hotly debated man after his jaw-dropping behaviour on The Bachelor. But the Honey Badger just got a taste of his own medicine — and he wasn’t happy.

HE’S Australia’s most hotly debated man after unceremoniously dumping the two final contestants in The Bachelor last week.

But Nick ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins got a taste of his own medicine when he was confronted by a crew from A Current Affair during his hideaway at a luxury resort in Papua New Guinea.

Cummins was clearly not happy with the ambush, warning reporter Reid Butler not to hassle him.

An irate Cummins told ACA: “I’m just trying to have a peaceful break. We’ll just get security, just don’t bloody hassle me, I’m trying to bloody crunch it out... just trying to chill out, got enough crap from people like you mate, so I just want to relax.”

Cummins fled to Papua New Guinea last week ahead of The Bachelor finale which saw him dump both Sophie Tieman and Brittany Hockley in a shock ending.

The former rugby union star, who recently completed the Kokoda Track, was approached by ACA while leaving the hotel pool after a leisurely day spent drinking cocktails.

ACA filmed him relaxing on a sun lounger and chatting with women while wearing a white bathrobe at the bar of the luxury resort in Port Moresby.

As he ambled his way back to his room, ACA made their move, much to the Honey Badger’s shock.

“Sorry to do this to you, but can we ask you a few questions about the mess you’ve left back home?” reporter Reid Butler asked.

“Sorry?” a perplexed Cummins replied.

“Ah mate, I’ll get to that, I’m just trying to have a peaceful break.”

As Butler tried to question Cummins as he waited for an elevator, his friend, Sydney-based personal trainer James Brodie, warned the ACA reporter to “leave it”.

The confrontation became heated when Butler asked Cummins if he had “anything to say to the girls”.

Brodie warned: “We’ve just asked, you just leave it.”

It is claimed Cummins' Kokoda charity hike was planned months ago and it is a coincidence he was away when the controversial finale aired.

The rugby player hasn’t commented on his shock decision to dump the two finalists apart from a prerecorded interview with The Sunday Project.

When grilled by Lisa Wilkinson as to why he had gone on The Bachelor, a flustered Nick said it was all down to his “timeline”.

“So timelines you can have, you can think you know what you want, and then someone comes into your life and your view of what you thought you wanted gets absolutely blown out the window,” Cummins said.

“Why would I go in and start something that has a high potential of three months down the track breaking her heart, you know? I’d rather make a very hard decision then at that point to save a big scar on the heart later.”
