‘Shut your lid’: Bachelor star Alex Nation responds to ‘mum shamers’

The Bachelor in Paradise star has taken aim at “mum shamers” who she claims attacked her, telling them to be quiet and “go have an orgasm”.

Mum shamers you’ve been warned — stay far away from Bachelor in Paradise’s Alex Nation.

The Bachelor star has hit back at those she says has criticised her, telling them to “shut their lid” and “go have an orgasm” in a blistering response.

While it’s unclear what exactly prompted Alex’s response, the 27-year-old has faced intense public scrutiny over her failed relationship with Bachelor in Paradise co-star, Bill Goldsmith which was revealed last week.

“Mum shaming is so f***ing real. It’s toxic, insidious and it’s becoming disturbingly common. Quite frankly, I’m sick of it,” Alex wrote on Instagram.

The Bachelor star had a feisty response to those who have been ‘mum shaming’ her.

“Parenting can be absolutely spirit crushing as it is. I can’t even begin to explain eloquently enough the amount of times I have doubted myself over my 8.5 years of being a parent.

“As a young mother I am particularly sensitive to the vulnerable feelings a human can have trying to navigate their way around parenthood.”

Alex added that all parents must face the tough task of choosing “the right thing” for their child but sometimes realise “with the clarity of hindsight, that you should have chosen differently”.

“All you can do is try and learn and grow along the way and try not make the same mistake in the future,” she wrote.

“So shamers, shame on you. We are all just doing our absolute best with this whole Mum thing. Shut your lid, have yourself an orgasm and stop being such damn mean spirited individuals.”

Alex shares eight-year-old son Elijah with her former husband Joel Porter, with the reality star becoming a mother at age 19.

Sharing a throwback photo of herself pregnant on Instagram last year, Alex described herself as a “baby face with a baby bump”.

“Having a baby scares me more now than it did then. Perhaps because I’ve grown so much and I’ve learnt a lot and I know now what it means to bring a child into this world,” she wrote in the caption.

“Thankful and proud of naive, bold, baby faced me, but jeeeeee wiz was my Mum pissed.”

On Bachelor in Paradise’s tell-all reunion last week Alex finally broke her silence on her split from Bill, which had been rumoured for weeks.

Alex, who rose to fame as the winner of Richie Strahan’s season of the Bachelor, told host Osher Gunsberg she had returned from Fiji after filming last year on cloud nine.

“In that moment I definitely felt that I fell in love with him,” she said.

“Then we came back from paradise and it was good for three weeks, and then he told me that he didn’t love me, and that we, I suppose, couldn’t be together, and that he thinks it was the environment that made him fall in love with me.”

Alex said she had been blindsided by Bill’s revelation and he had behaved differently once they were back in Australia.

“It was hard because we came back and everything was amazing, and then all of a sudden I felt like it was flipped on its head,” she said.
