Bachelor in Paradise star Jarrod Woodgate slams new Bachelorette Ali Oetjen

THEY were once very cosy on Bachelor in Paradise, but Jarrod Woodgate had nothing nice to say about new Bachelorette Ali Oetjen this morning.

THERE was plenty of backlash among fans this week when Channel 10 announced its new Bachelorette would be Ali Oetjen — and they’re not alone.

Jarrod Woodgate also has some strong opinions about his former Bachelor in Paradise co-star (and one-time crush).

During an interview with his girlfriend Keira Maguire on Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa show this morning, Jarrod was shockingly blunt when the topic was raised.

“Urgh, next question ...” he groaned.

Even Keira was shocked, quickly jumping in: “Jarrod! No! This was why I was worried to do interviews this morning ... I was like, ‘Babe, you need to hold back. I thought I had no filter!’”

When the hosts pressed Jarrod to explain his answer, Keira deftly tried to run interference again.

“He does like her, he’s just worried, you know, that she’s going to have a hard time choosing,” she explained awkwardly.

“Honestly, [Ali] was there on [Bachelor in Paradise] for a long time, and basically everything we saw was lame — it was boring. There’s no other way to put it,” Jarrod insisted.

Jarrod and Ali briefly dated on Bachelor in Paradise.

It’s certainly an opinion echoed by many others.

News of the casting broke during the last moments of the Bachelor in Paradise finale on Monday night, after it was revealed she and her boyfriend on the show, Grant Kemp, had broken up.

But the announcement about the two-time contestant — Ali first appeared in the inaugural 2013 season of The Bachelor Australia before her stint in Paradise — was met with a decidedly mixed response from viewers, many of whom — like Jarrod — branded the reality TV veteran boring.
