Bachelor in Paradise: Megan guilted into date with Jared after rejecting him multiple times
IN AGONISING scenes, one Bachelor In Paradise veteran has rejected a new arrival multiple times — before being forced into a date with him.
IN ONE of the most awkward social interactions we’ve seen on screen and in real life, one contestant on Bachelor In Paradise has forced another to go on a punishing date with him even after she rejected him multiple times.
Moments after arriving on the island, the show’s newest contestant Jared Haibon — who has appeared on several US incarnations of the franchise — bowls up to Megan Marx and requests a private conversation.
Hey Megan, how was it?
Megan thinks she’s made it clear to Jared that things will never happen between them. But Jared doesn’t pick up on social cues and asks Megan out on a date in front of everybody.
“Ummm ... let’s go have a chat,” she huffs.
“On a scale of one to 10 the awkwardness was probably a 9.99999,” she scoffs to us.
Away from the communal cabana, Megan tries to nip this situation in the bud and tells Jared “there’s no chemistry” and he’s all “no totally!” and we’re all “why are we here?”
But still, Jared persists. Megan can’t believe it. She scrunches her face up in annoyance and shakes her head: “If you wanna go on a date ... then ... let’s do it ...” she says, sighing out of exhaustion.
It’s only at this point Jared picks up on the fact Megan might not be keen.
In perhaps one of the most bizarre cases of social interaction, Jared AGAIN persists with asking Megan out.
The cameras stay on Megan and will not turn off until she agrees to this crappy date against her will.
“Fine ... Lets do it,” she mumbles through gritted teeth.
On a random boat, Jared decides to pull out his premium first date material.
“You ever seen Jurassic Park?” he asks.
Because Jared’s American, it’s safe to assume he’s not completely up to speed with Megan’s backstory. And, because this date could not get any more awkward, Megan decides it’s the perfect opportunity to casually explain to him that, no, she hasn’t seen Jurassic Park because she grew up in a cult in remote Australia, thank-you-very-much.
“I actually grew up in a very religious household and we actually weren’t allowed to watch movies. It wasn’t until I was 23 that I started watching movies,” she says flippantly.
This cult revelation is a lot to take in for Jared. His mind is flooded with questions. He aks the most important and obvious one: “So, no TV?”
No. No TV, Jared.
