Bachelor in Paradise has been canned from Channel 10’s schedule for 2021

After three wild seasons, The Bachelor and Bachelorette’s dramatic tropical spin-off will take a break from Channel 10’s line up.

In devastating news for both reality TV fans and Instagram influencers in the making, The Bachelor franchise spin-off Bachelor in Paradise has been dropped from Channel 10’s programming for 2021.

The drama-filled reality show, which brings together former contestants from The Bachelor and The Bachelorette for cocktail-fuelled poolside romance, has aired three seasons so far.

During today’s 2021 schedule announcement for the network, however, Bachelor in Paradise season 4 was notably absent from the list.

While there are whispers it may return in 2022, its omission from the 2021 schedule is believed to be due to poor ratings.

The show’s August finale, where couples Alisha Aitken-Radburn and Glenn Smith, as well as Mary Viturino and Conor Canning walked off hand-in-hand into the sunset and remain together to this day, drew in just 539,000 viewers.

Before today’s announcement, there were rumours the series — which is usually filmed in Fiji — would be filmed in Australia due to coronavirus restrictions.

The series has become synonymous with partner-swapping and dodgy behaviour from its contestants in the years since its 2018 premiere.

This year, a new Bach world “villain” emerged in Ciarran Stott, the loveable larrikin from Angie Kent’s season of The Bachelorette.

The cheeky Brit was seen pursuing several of Bachelorettes this year, including Abbie Chatfield, Cass Mamone, ex-girlfriend Renee Barrett, her close friend Jessica Brody and Kiki Morris — who he left the program with but split from shortly after.

Another contestant, Jamie Doran, also publicly threatened to take legal action against Channel 10 and Warner Bros for his portrayal.

Doran, originally from Angie Kent’s season of The Bachelorette, was filmed breaking down in tears and threatening to storm out when bestie Timm Hanly was considering leaving the show.

Today’s Channel 10 upfronts did promise the return of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, as well as the possibility of Lindsay Lohan returning to The Masked Singer.

The Mean Girls star appeared on the first season of the show but was unavailable to travel to Australia for this year’s series due to the pandemic.

Instead, Lohan was replaced on the guessing panel by comedian Urzila Carlson.

Channel 10 also announced today that I’m a Celeb will be filmed in Australia instead of South Africa due to the pandemic, and Australian Survivor will return in 2021 with Jonathan LaPaglia as host.

No series of Survivor was filmed this year due to coronavirus travel restrictions. The network hasn’t specified when or where production of the new season will take place.

Meanwhile, Beau Ryan is in the process of filming a local version of The Amazing Race, which returns for another season in 2021.
