Bachelor In Paradise: Everything you need to know
THE turbocharged, tropical island-set Bachelor spin-off kicks off next week — here’s everything you need to know about how the show actually works.
TEN’S much-hyped new Bach spin-off, Bachelor In Paradise, finally kicks off next week, dropping a bunch of recognisable reality TV survivors into an isolated beachside resort in search of love.
Here’s everything you need to know, Bach fans.
What are the rules?
With a wide pool of guys and girls vying for love/fame/Instagram sponsorship deals (circle appropriate), Bachelor In Paradise runs to a slightly more complicated schedule than your typical Bachelor / Bachelorette season. Every second episode there is a rose ceremony, and during the in-between episodes, new arrivals descend on the resort to shake up the existing contestants.
Some of the new arrivals will come bearing ‘date cards’, giving them an instant advantage in the game.
In this Bach spin-off, the power balance is constantly shifting: more guys than girls one episode, more girls than guys another. One rose ceremony sees women vying for roses, the next men.
With not enough roses to go around, at the end of each ceremony those left without a rose are sent packing. Think of it like a game of romantic musical chairs — as the season progresses and relationships cement, those who haven’t formed a strong mutual connection with anybody will find themselves booted out of paradise.
While there’s no traditional ‘winner’ like Bachelor and Bachelorette seasons, the last remaining couples will head off on “secluded fantasy dates” designed to test their relationships. As the season ends, those left standing must declare whether they’ve actually found love (or at least a bit of cocktail-fuelled lust).

Ali, 31, Apollo, 25, Jarrod, 32, and Laurina, 34, have all already been announced for the show — but here’s who else you can expect to see on night one:

Where are they?
Forget the usual Sydney Harbourside Bach mansion: For Bachelor In Paradise, the group of razzed-up singles have been sent to the Mango Bay Resort in Fiji. It might not be the Paradise they had in mind, though: 21% of the traveller reviews for the resort on TripAdvisor range from “average” to “terrible.”
When is it on?
Bachelor In Paradise premieres 7.30pm on Sunday 25 March on TEN and WIN Network.
