‘She was robbed’: Voice viewers rage as Fasika falls short

FASIKA delivered a jaw-dropping performance alongside coach Kelly Rowland — then got booted from the competition at the final hurdle. Her fans couldn’t quite believe it.

THE Voice Australia crowned a new winner last night, with 20-year-old Judah Kelly crowned the victor of the sixth series of the show — but not everyone is happy.

Fans took to social media in droves to express their shock that standout contestant Fasika Ayallew had fallen short in the audience vote, losing out on a place in the final two to runner-up Hoseah Partsch.

It came after Ayallew delivered a powerhouse duet with coach Kelly Rowland, the pair performing an electrifying rendition of Tina Turner’s classic Proud Mary that even left host Sonia Kruger speechless. Check it out:

It was arguably the standout performance of the season — but just a few minutes later, Ayallew and fellow contestant Lucy Sugerman were informed they would not be progressing to the final two.

Some pointed out that Ayallew falling short of the prize is arguably a blessing in disguise, given the ‘Voice curse’ that has seen previous winners struggle to turn their reality TV fame into chart success. The lawyer and ‘closet singer’ is certainly dreaming big — she told The Daily Telegraph last week that she’d love to be a worldwide star.

“The dream is to go international. It’s going to be over so soon so I’m just wanting to have as much fun as possible,” she said.
