Shark Tank: Gym junkies brutally shut down by Janine Allis

BOOST Juice founder Janine Allis doesn’t hold back on tonight’s episode of Shark Tank, blasting a pair of gym junkies for their “misleading” claims.

Gym junkies slammed on Shark Tank

TWO gym junkies have the smiles wiped from their faces during a brutal confrontation with Janine Allis on Shark Tank tonight.

Gym owners and fitness enthusiasts Raph Freedman, 25, and Rory Boyden, 26, appear on tonight’s episode looking for a $50,000 investment in return for a 10 per cent stake of their company, Peak Chocolate.

“Our product, Peak chocolate, is something the health and fitness market has never seen before,” Rory explains to the panel of sharks.

“It is 80 per cent cacao dark chocolate, infused with a special formulation of supplements and caffeine.”

The buff boys consider their product to be an alternative to morning coffees and energy drinks and they hand out blocks of chocolate to each of the sharks to sample the goods.

But it doesn’t take long for Boost Juice founder Janine Allis to spot a problem.

Nice packaging.
Nice packaging.

“It says here, ‘engineered to accelerate muscle growth and increase in energy levels’,” Janine says, reading the back of the Peak Chocolate packaging.

“Have you had legal advice?” she asks.

“Yeah, well, I’m actually two subjects away from finishing my law degree,” Raph says.

The five sharks assume his answer is a joke and erupt in laughter. It isn’t.

“To say ‘engineering to accelerate muscle growth,’ have you got clinical trials to prove that?” Janine asks them.

Rory tilts his head to the side like a confused puppy and says, “Sorry, can you say that again?”

Poor Rory.
Poor Rory.

“Clinical trials, have you got any proof?” Janine asks.

“You need to finish that law degree because you are screwing up big time here ... Have you got proof that this does what it says it’s going to do?”

Spoiler: They don’t have any proof.

The boys try to explain that they’re referring to research that’s been done in the past about the three supplements they’ve used in Peak Chocolate, but Janine is having none of it.

“Misleading!” she yells.

“That is misleading. At the moment you’re making health claims that aren’t proven which means it’s against the law. I would seriously think about repackaging because there’s a number of things on here that are just simply against the food standards codes.”

Janine then delivers a knockout blow to the fit fellas as she tells them, “you need to get good legal advice, maybe from someone who’s finished their course”.

Ouch.
