SAS Australia: Jackson Warne tries his first beer at 21

The SAS Australia contestant stunned viewers when he revealed he’d only ever eaten 10 foods in his life. And now he’s tried his first beer.

Jackson Warne has just had his first beer aged 21.

The SAS Australia contestant stunned his co-stars and viewers last week when he revealed in an episode that he’d never had tomato soup and had only ever eaten 10 different foods before.

Since then, Jackson has started an Instagram series called ‘Jackson Tries’ where he samples new foods for the first time.

Up first was watermelon which the poker player gave a rating of 4/10 and said, “Just tastes like water.”

Attempt.

Yesterday he released his second video in the series, saying: “I’ve actually never had a beer either. Who would have thought”.

“There’s no beer better to taste than Corona because obviously of everything going on,” the reality contestant joked in a reference to the pandemic.

Jackson had a couple of sips and said: “It actually tastes pretty good … Not bad.”

He rated his first ever beer 8/10.

Jackson’s dad, cricket legend Shane Warne, seemed amused by the video and wrote: “Hahahahaha! Well done.”

Jackson’s mum, Simone Callahan, seemed less impressed, writing: “Ewwww.”

His SAS Australia co-star Merrick Watts commented: “Legend! Wait till you discover wine!”

This morning Jackson spoke to Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa and admitted he’d actually tried beer once before when he was about 11 years old.

“One New Year’s Eve, probably about 10 years ago when I was really young, Dad was super pissed and he gave me some of his VB and I had a sip and went, ‘no way never again, that was horrible!’

“It was the worst thing I’ve ever tasted,” Jackson said, adding that he decided to stick to vodka when he was old enough to drink.

JACKSON’S FOOD REVELATION

Viewers were gobsmacked last week when Jackson told Schapelle Corby on SAS Australia that he’d never had tomato soup before.

“I’ve never had it. I’ve only had, like, 10 different foods before. I’ve just always had the same thing since I was young,” he said.

Jackson later spoke to news.com.au and revealed what exactly he’s been eating his entire life.

“OK, eggs, bacon, toast, cereal, burgers, nachos, chips, apples … that’s about it,” Jackson laughed.

Taking us through his typical day on a plate, Jackson said: “In the morning I’d wake up and I’d have eggs and bacon with an oat shake. I’d go to the gym and train, then I’d have two burgers and a protein shake and then I’d rest for the rest of the day. And for dinner I’d have a lasagne or pasta.”

The poker player said: “It’s not like I don’t want to try other foods, it’s just that I enjoy what I’m eating and it works for me.”

But that all changed when he signed on to appear on SAS Australia.

“The food on the show, there were all these different foods I hadn’t had before and they tasted awesome,” Jackson told news.com.au.

“We had oats for breakfast and the lunches were usually soup. For dinner, the first night we had these mini steaks. It was my first time having steak!

“I tried pineapple and rockmelon and had my first mandarin on the show as well.”

Jackson said that most of his co-stars on SAS Australia were jealous of his limited food experiences.

“The rest of the recruits were jealous in the sense that at 21 years of age, I get to try all these foods for the first time, like sushi, fruit, steak,” he said. “They said they wish they could go back to the first time they tried all those foods.”
