SAS Australia: Insider reveals shock ending for one of the celebrity recruits

One of the celebrity recruits finished all of the show’s gruelling challenges only to be told they hadn’t passed, an insider has revealed.

SAS Australia is coming to an end

An SAS Australia insider has revealed that one of the celebrity recruits was deemed “not fit for selection” despite making it through all the show’s challenges.

The final two episodes of the brutal reality show air tonight and tomorrow night on Channel 7.

There are just seven recruits left in the show: Erin McNaught, Molly Taylor, Sabrina Frederick, James Magnussen, Merrick Watts, Nick Cummins and Shannan Ponton.

Speaking to news.com.au, a show insider explained that “just because someone completes the course does not mean they will pass selection”.

The decision as to whether or not a recruit has “passed” is made by one of the show’s instructors who are known as the Directing Staff (DS).

“They want to see who fits the mould; who has the right attitude, determination and grit they’re looking for,” the insider said about the DS. “The ultimate question the DS are asking themselves is – would we have you in our team; would we want you standing next to us in a war zone?”

But for one celebrity the answer was ‘no’, meaning they made it through the two weeks of physical and psychological torture only to be told they weren’t good enough to make the grade.

“A handful of recruits will complete the course but one of them will not pass selection,” the insider told news.com.au.

When asked how the celebrity reacted when they were told they hadn’t passed, the insider said: “They reacted with dignity and upon explanation, an understanding of the reason for their exclusion.”

The insider added that there is no prize for those who do make selection, telling news.com.au: “There is no reward, there is not even a certificate. This course is an opportunity for people to find out who they really are and what they are truly capable of.”

Prior to SAS Australia, there had been seven seasons of this format around the world and only 13 recruits passed selection, two of them women.

SAS Australia continues tonight on Channel 7 at 7.30pm
