Tennis star Nick Kyrgios is not the only member of his family with special talents and the ability to get the crowds cheering.

Nick Kyrgios surprises his big sis Halimah on The Voice

Sunday night’s episode of The Voice unearthed a hidden Australian gem, in the form of controversial tennis star Nick Kyrgios’ sister, Halimah Kyrgios.

Halimah came onto the show to prove she was more than just Nick Kyrgios’ older sister, and boy did she bring the talent.

“Growing up, we were always together,” she told the camera. “He was also singing and dancing, but he had a natural gift for tennis. I look to him a lot for inspiration. He’s such a fighter, he battles for everything. Even though he’s much younger than me … If he can do it, why can’t I? What’s stopping me?

“I’m not very out there like he is. Having Nick in the limelight has been a good and bad thing. There is added pressure. I really just want to focus on people knowing me as Halimah, not Nick’s sister. That would be amazing to achieve.”

Singing Tina Arena’s classic song Chains, Halimah got all four chairs turned, with coaches Keith Urban, Rita Ora, Jessica Mauboy and Guy Sebastian absolutely stunned by her immaculate voice.

After belting out the tune, the coaches discover that she is Nick’s sister, and to their surprise she reveals that Nick can also sing and dance pretty well.

Turning to a screen, Nick appears to support his sister. “Nick’s here!” yelled host Sonia Kruger.

“I just flew back from Sydney so I missed it,” Nick laughed.

“She was amazing!” Sonia told him.

“She always is,” he replied.

“It was even better than your shot through the legs Nick,” taunted Guy.

In the end, Halimah couldn’t help but be a complete fan-girl and went with the international superstar Rita Ora, who saw it as a huge honour to have the singer on her team.

“I did not expect her to pick me, I’m really flattered. That’s an Australian song, a classic and I’m glad she trusts me. There’s a lot we can do together,” Rita told the camera.
