MTV halts Catfish filming as host Nev Schulman is accused of sexual misconduct
MTV has halted filming of one of its biggest TV hits after its host was accused of sexual misconduct.
MTV has suspended production on Catfish: The TV Show as it investigates host Nev Schulman for sexual misconduct.
Schulman, who is host and executive producer, has been accused of sexual harassment by Ayissha Morgan, 20, who appeared on Catfish in 2015, claims which he has denied.
In a video posted to YouTube last week, Morgan alleged Schulman, 33, a married father-of-one, had asked multiple times to take her on a date and propositioned her for sex while filming.
MTV confirmed to the Daily Beast filming on Catfish had been temporarily halted as Morgan’s claims were investigated.
“We take these allegations very seriously,” a spokesperson told the website.
Schulman has denied the allegations, telling People: “The behaviour described in this video did not happen and I’m fortunate that there are a number of former colleagues who were present during this time period who are willing to speak up with the truth.
“I have always been transparent about my life and would always take responsibility for my actions — but these claims are false.”
Catfish has run for seven seasons on MTV since 2012 and is based on a 2010 documentary of the same name.
In the film, Schulman recruits his friends and family to help him track down the woman who has been catfishing him online.
The TV show follows a similar premise with Schulman and co-host Max Joseph helping people track down the person they are involved with online to find out if they really exist.
Schulman is married to Laura Perlongo and the couple are parents to one-year-old daughter Cleo.
