Michael Cainero, King of Sausages, crowned Recipe to Riches winner

QUEENSLAND concreter Michael Cainero was crowned the winner of Recipe to Riches 2014, pocketing $100,000 and a business partnership with Woolworths.

QUEENSLAND’S King of Sausages, Michael Cainero, was crowned the winner of Recipe to Riches 2014.

The 31-year-old father pocketed $100,000 and a business partnership with Woolworths after his pork, apple and cinnamon sausages outsold six other final products.

“I’m absolutely speechless,” Cainero said, who was inspired to make his snags while his young daughter was battling leukaemia.

“It’s been a dream but you just don’t expect something like this to happen.”

Tuesday night’s grand final, which saw the seven finalists return, came down to the wire, with Cainero and Darcy Taylor’s Choc Bombs both hitting their sales targets.

Ultimately the concreter from North Lakes was declared the winner because his snags reached their sales target the fastest.

Joined by his heavily pregnant wife Melissa and their four-year-old daughter Isabelle, an emotional Cainero said, “We’ve gone through a lot and now with the winnings we can enjoy life a little.

“Izzy is very excited because I told her if I win I’d get her a massive cubby house for the backyard.”

Michael Cainero’s King of Sausages, Chunky Pork & Apple sausages will be on sale in Woolworths stores nationally from January 5, 2015.
