MasterChef star Emelia Jackson has revealed that she was forced to quit the show’s brand new spin-off series Dessert Masters.

WhenNetwork Ten’s Dessert Masters launched this month, many fans were surprised not to see Jackson as part of the series considering she’s best known for being one of the most talented dessert chefs MasterChef Australia has seen.

It turns out Jackson was originally set to star in the series as a contestant, and had signed up ready to film.

However, when producers revealed when the show would begin filming, Jackson realised she was going to have to leave her place on the show.

“I was asked to be on it and I did say yes and it was all systems go until they told me that filming was starting on my due date of my second [child],” she told Yahoo Lifestyle.

Jackson was so keen to join the show, she agreed to take part even before knowing exactly what it would entail.

“They didn’t really explain the concept, they just said, ‘Are you keen to do this? It’s a dessert one, right up your alley’, and I said, ‘Yep, of course, sign me up’,” she continued.

“And then when I saw who was on it I was like, thank god I didn’t go on that, I would’ve been smashed to a pulp!”

“Zumbo, Reynold, I would’ve just drowned in that crew of people. They are all the best pastry chefs in Australia and I would’ve been there like, ‘I can make a cake!’. I’m not going to beat Kirsten Tibballs, let’s be real.”

This year’s cast of Dessert Masters season one includes Andy Bowdy, Morgan Hipworth, Jess Liemantara, Rhiann Mead, Reynold Poernomo, Anna Polyviou, Kay-Lene Tan, Kirsten Tibballs, Gareth Whitton and Adriano Zumbo.

Despite having to quit this year’s series, Jackson has revealed it’s likely viewers will see her on next year’s show if it proves successful with fans.

“I’ll be wildly jealous the entire time, but I’ll definitely watch,” added the chef. “I’ve finished having babies, they’re all done, I can come in season two.”

Meanwhile, Dessert Masters enjoyed a successful launch over the weekend, attracting 477,000 viewers and performing well in the key demos.
