MasterChef: Chris Badenoch hits back at Gordon Ramsay after outburst

Chris Badenoch copped a tongue lashing from Gordon Ramsay on MasterChef, but none of it was deserved he’s claimed.

MasterChef contestant Chris Badenoch has hit back at Gordon Ramsay after the British chef tore him a new one in Tuesday night’s episode.

Badenoch was on the receiving end of Ramsay’s infamous temper on multiple occasions during the first team challenge of the season.

The British chef first let rip at Badenoch for cutting the pork well before it was due to be served.

“Why in the f**k is he slicing the pork when it goes dry in a heartbeat?” Ramsay said to Blue Team captain Ben Milbourne.

“Stop slicing the pork!” he then screamed directly at Badenoch.

Ramsay then had a meltdown when he realised there wasn’t enough pork to serve all the customers.

“You are f***ing kidding me!” Ramsay yelled as he realised the Blue Team’s error.

Badenoch seemed relatively unfazed by Ramsay’s outburst in last night’s episode, and now we know why.

Speaking to news.com.au, Badenoch claimed there was actually plenty of pork left over and it was Ramsay who had miscounted the portions, not him.

“I watched it last night when it went to air and I was having a good laugh at it,” he told news.com.au. “He (Ramsay) got the numbers wrong, that’s what I was laughing under my breath at.

“He (Ramsay) didn’t write down a few tables that had gone out, plus there were eight portions sitting on the pass that he didn’t notice.”

Badenoch claimed that when the service was over, he still had plenty of meat leftover.

“I was like, ‘what the f**k am I meant to do with this giant tray of pork?’” he said.

When asked if Ramsay eventually realised he’d made an error, Badenoch told news.com.au: “He would never let you know if he did. That wouldn’t be cool.”

He continued: “Ben and I were having a chat after it was filmed and I was saying, ‘I’m going to be really interested to see how this ends up in the edit.’”

Ultimately it was Badenoch who copped the blame for the pork fiasco in the episode, but he told news.com.au he wasn’t bothered in the slightest by the edit.

“He’s a superstar,” he said about Ramsay. “It is what it is. I had a laugh and we’re onto the next episode. You can’t get p**sed off at these things.”

The first two episodes of MasterChef have been a ratings hit with the Aussie public and many have praised the “genius” move to have Ramsay involved in the first week of the show.

Viewers love the fiery TV personality, but he’s not as harsh in real life, Badenoch revealed.

“He’s really hot and cold,” he said about Ramsay. “Through prep he was really helpful and was worried about everyone’s safety and making sure everyone had enough water. And then when service started, the drama kicks in and the dummies get spat out and it’s like, ‘Here we go, this is what he’s been waiting for.’

“He’s got a funny Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde thing going on,” he said.

Badenoch is one of the 24 former contestants who has returned to take part in MasterChef: Back To Win.

When asked who the favourite to win is in his opinion, he replied: “Are you asking who are the best cooks or who are the favourites?”

Badenoch explained that the ‘favourites’ are Reynold Poernomo, Poh Ling Yeo, Laura Sharrad and Hayden Quinn.

“They’re obviously those crowd favourites who get the ratings which is what it’s all about at the end of the day,” he told news.com.au.

But as for who are the best cooks, well, that’s a different story according to Badenoch.

“Simon Toohey, he’s got a really good take on veg,” Badenoch said. “And Sarah Tiong is amazing, her flavours and skill level is phenomenal.”
