Masked Singer: Twitter roasts Lindsay Lohan over reaction to big reveal

Lindsay Lohan did her best to fake excitement when the first secret celebrity was revealed on The Masked Singer … but no one was convinced.

Unless she’d happened to tune in to Big Brother Australia between 2001 and 2007, there was approximately zero per cent chance Lindsay Lohan was going to recognise Gretel Killeen on The Masked Singer.

Part-guessing game, part-singing competition, Ten’s new series sees a number of celebrities perform each week, until only one remains. Lohan — alongside Jackie O, Dave Hughes and Dannii Minogue — are tasked with trying to guess who each singer is.

The show pulled in an impressive audience last night, with 1.162 million people tuning in (five-city metro).

Ahead of the premiere, Ten dropped some cryptic clues about who could be making an appearance.

Lohan managed to throw up a few decent guesses during last night’s premiere but wasn’t able to hide her general confusion when the first secret guest was revealed to be the former TV host.

“It’s Gretel Killeen!” Jackie O shrieked, as the Mean Girls star looked around with an awkward smile.

It was probably the least convincing acting Lohan has delivered since Georgia Rule — and Twitter was quick to roast her about it.

Last week, Lohan’s co-host Dannii Minogue told news.com.au that they’d all had to do “some study” prior to filming.

“(Lindsay) definitely did some study, and I have to say, I had to do some study on the years when I moved away overseas. I was thinking ‘I really need to brush up a little bit’,” Minogue explained.

“We all just started off with lists of singers, TV talent, radio talent, sportspeople, reality stars... We just tried to get a list of who people could be.... I sat down with friends and asked who they thought could be on the show.

“I just kept writing down names and referring to that list thinking, ‘Could it be any of them?’ It was a little glossary I kept in front of me.”
