‘When I had the surgery they severed a nerve’: MAFS groom Nic reveals his health battle
In an emotional revelation MAFS’ Nic has revealed his battle with cancer — including its impact on his sex life.
Married At First Sight’s Nic has opened up about his battle with cancer and how it impacted his sex life during his honeymoon with Cyrell.
In an emotional revelation on Thursday night’s episode, Nic told Cyrell how he was diagnosed four years ago.
“I finished a game of soccer and was laying in bed and had a real sore tummy, like a stitch,” he said.
“So I rang up my doctor, two weeks went with all my scans, blood tests and all that. Finally the surgeon called me up and said, ‘can we make an appointment for this date and could you bring your parents along,’ and yeah, found out at 24 I had cancer.”
Shocked, Cyrell broke down in tears, embracing Nic and telling him: “I wasn’t expecting that and I’m so sorry.”
But a visibly nervous Nic wasn’t done, telling Cyrell: “There’s more.
“(I) finally finished chemo cancer free, it was such a good feeling but there was a few side effects from the surgery.
“This is pretty full on … it’s a bit of weird sort of situation. It’s hard to say this, but when I had the surgery they severed a nerve that prevents me from ejaculating.”
“Wait, wait, wait, wait — I’m sorry, explain everything again?” Cyrell asked, confused.
“I still orgasm yeah, but nothing comes out so it sort of goes into my stomach,” Nic explained. “Um pretty awkward, it’s something I don’t talk about, ever.”
Admitting afterwards he thought Cyrell’s reaction had been “stand-offish” at first, Nic said he understood it was because she was worried he couldn’t have kids.
“So what’s the chance of a baby?” Cyrell asked.
“So I can still have kids, but it has to be through IVF. It’s just something I’ve had to deal with,” Nic said.
Holding onto Nic, Cyrell said that while it was still early in their relationship his revelation didn’t put her off.
“It doesn’t mean I don’t like you anymore, I do,” she said. “If we get to that stage where I find myself head over heels in love with you then we’ll find a way, whatever comes our way we will figure it out.”
