Viewers call out ‘hypocritical’ Married At First Sight bride Alyssa
A MAFS bride emerged as the moral police in last night’s cheating scandal, which raised eyebrows among fans for one glaring reason.
Viewers have turned on an unsuspecting Married At First Sight bride after Wednesday night’s dinner party, accusing her of being a “hypocrite”.
Alyssa Barmonde, 35, was unexpectedly enraged by the cheating scandal currently engulfing the Channel 9 series, in which it emerged Claire Nomarhas and Adam Seed shared a sneaky kiss weeks earlier.
NSW-based executive assistant Alyssa was intense in her handling of the situation, telling the other brides she would “100 percent slam” Claire, adding she was “ready to stab a b***h in the eye”.
She was also the ringleader at the dinner table holding Adam and Claire to account, lashing out at the duo for “lying to us for weeks”.
That’s all well and good, until you cast back to two weeks ago during confessions week when Alyssa told her ‘husband’ Duncan James, 36, she was previously complicit in a long-running affair with a married man.
Her behaviour last night has swiftly become a talking point among viewers, who were baffled by her “aggressive” approach considering her own indiscretions:
i canât with alyssa⦠she was literally complicit in an affair yet acts like cheating on your fake spouse is the worst thing in the world #mafs#mafsau

Help me out, please! Wasn't Alyssa, ex-Mormon, the one who had an affair with someone in a relationship (I.e. was the side piece?) So NOW she's upset with her TV hubby for refusing to ice his friend? I'm confused at the hypocrisy #MAFSAustralia#mafs#MAFSAU

Can we just highlight that Alyssa screwed an actual married husband for six months outside of this experiment #MAFSAU

Why is Alyssa so upset about it? ð§ I don't need to be an expert to see that she may be projecting her own guilt and shame on Adam and Claire in this situation #MAFS#MAFSAU

Meanwhile, first cracks began emerging in Alyssa and Duncan’s TV union when, leading up to last night’s dinner party, the pair got in a disagreement over how to handle the cheating allegations.
Duncan said he didn’t agree with Adam and Claire’s behaviour but would not ice them out, while Alyssa said she “won’t be greeting Claire or Adam” – urging him to follow suit.
Duncan argued: “Beacuse I’m friendly to everyone that somehow means I would support somebody’s behaviour that doesn’t align to my morals? That’s just not the case …”
“One of the things I love about Duncan is that he’s friends with everyone,” Alyssa began in a piece-to-camera. “But at the same time, if that person is a cheater, I’m happy to leave that person out.”
The two appeared to be one of the strongest couples on the show, but Alyssa’s unexpected dark side has cast doubt over whether or not they’ll last in the real world.
During confessions week, Duncan was rattled by Alyssa’s affair confession – saying it firmly went against his beliefs – but quickly assured her he was thankful for her honesty and wanted to move forward.
He’s been dubbed the “catch” of the show this season thanks to his good looks and kind nature.
