Married At First Sight’s Jo reveals what really went on behind the scenes with Sean

A GUSHING Jo happily announced she’d like to stay with “husband” Sean, only for him to dump her minutes later.

LAST night’s episode of Married At First Sight threw up two excruciating breakups.

During the cringe-worthy commitment ceremony, Jo was left shocked and crying when Sean decided to leave after she’d requested to stay, while Tracey was dumped by Dean despite the pair “being intimate” just hours earlier.

During the wedding and honeymoon, it was painfully clear to everyone at home that Sean had zero interest in his bride — almost physically recoiling whenever she came near him — but Jo seemed completely oblivious.

To be fair, until it aired, she wasn’t privy to perhaps the worst moment so far on the series — when Sean muttered “Oh s**t ...” as he saw her beaming face walking down the aisle toward him.

But how the hell didn’t she pick up on all the signs?

In a radio interview with Kyle and Jackie O on Monday, the single mum, 39, shed some light on what was really going on in their relationship — and why she was “blindsided” by Sean’s decision.

“Our honeymoon was gorgeous, and we really did have a great time, we were laughing a lot. There was quite a lot behind the scenes that you didn’t see, of laughing and paying each other out ... so that was really quite good,” Jo explained, adding that she’d expected they’d both grow more affectionate as they got to know each other.

“We were on Married At First Sight, not Lust At First Sight, so it was never going to be ‘I’m going to shag you on the first night’.”

While she did admit she wasn’t attracted to him during their honeymoon, Jo told the radio hosts that she was hoping his personality would help ignite the spark.

“I’m all about personality, I’m not one for looks. So your looks come through your personality. In the end, I will love you once your personality shines.”

The couple haven’t officially broken up — the torturous rules of the show state that both parties need to agree to leave before they can call it quits — but it’s clearly only a matter of time.

And, as Jo revealed to Kyle and Jackie O, she’s “still single”.

“I’ve just gone back to ‘mum life’. I went home and was just doing school lunches the next day.”

Far from turning her off the idea of a reality TV romance, the experience has strengthened Jo’s resolve. When asked if she’d return next season a la John (the famously non-Polynesian groom who’s been given a second shot at love), her answer was a resounding: “In a heartbeat.”
