Married At First Sight: Dan and Jess have received death threats
Last night’s explosive episode of Married At First Sight has resulted in death threats and a petition to cancel the reality show.
Married At First Sight’s Dan and Jess say they’ve received death threats in the wake of their cheating scandal.
The two contestants came clean about their relationship in last night’s explosive episode which was the highest rating “normal episode” from all six seasons with 1.68 million viewers (five city metro).
Their confession left both of their original partners, Mick and Tamara, in tears and outraged viewers who slammed the couple on social media.

Dan and Jess did a series of radio and TV interviews this morning and opened up about some of the direct messages they’ve received from angry viewers.
“We’re copping it,” Jess told Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa.
“People are like, ‘I hope you get a noose and hang it around your neck and video it, you’re a disgrace.’
“These people are quite sneaky. They start out with ‘lots of love,’ so you open it thinking it’s nice but then it’s horrible.”
Jess, who has moved to the Gold Coast from Perth to be closer to Dan, told the Nova duo she regrets that Mick and Tamara got hurt but is adamant she made the right decision to pursue a romance with Dan.
“We didn’t go about it the right way but I knew what I wanted, I just had to do it,” she said.
In an interview on Today Extra, Jess said she’s “disgusted” by her behaviour on the show and added her family aren’t exactly thrilled either.
“I was disgusted in myself and I felt horrible,” she said on the Channel 9 morning show. “Watching it back last night really brought back all of those emotions as well and I was watching... I’m just going, ‘What were you doing Jess? Come on. You’re not this girl. You could have happily left the experiment with Dan and I didn’t.’
“I’m actually disgusted in my behaviour. I am. And so is my family.
“My family... come from a very Christian background and they were watching it back just going, ‘Jess, come on. This is not you. This is not your morals. This is not how you were brought up.’”
Dan too is ashamed of his behaviour on the show, telling the Today Extra hosts, “I watch myself on there and I think, ‘What a wanker!’ But I can’t complain because obviously I went in there looking for love”.
DAN HAS REACHED OUT TO TAMARA
Tamara claims she had absolutely no idea Dan was seeing Jess behind her back, telling Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa this morning, “I was completely blindsided”.
Tamara broke down in tears in last night’s episode when the affair was revealed. She told the radio duo she wasn’t upset because she was heartbroken but rather because she thought Dan had more respect for her than to do that.
“Clearly there was no respect,” she said.
“As much as I wanted to go home for weeks and weeks, I stuck it out because I committed to the experiment and they just spat in my face. That’s why I was upset, the lack of respect.”
She added that Dan has tried to make amends since filming wrapped.
“Dan has had the decency to reach out to me after watching those episodes back and he has apologised to me numerous times,” Tamara said.
“I have numerous texts from him saying, ‘I’m so sorry, you’re an amazing human, I’m so sorry I did that to you.’
“Jessika on the other hand, I’ve not heard one peep, nothing.”
CO-STARS SPEAK OUT
Married At First Sight’s Cam and Jules took to Instagram during last night’s episode to make it clear they don’t support Dan and Jess’s behaviour.
Jules wrote: “For the record. Cam and I DONT CONDONE the cheating, the lies. The depth of deceit. We had no idea of everything that was going on.
“We can understand that the experiment is an experiment and some people aren’t suited and didn’t match. And may suit someone else. But the way you go about is being honest. Open. And not hurting and using people. And if your going to do it. You do it when it’s 120%.
“Who are we to know how some one feels. We just know how much it hurt everyone Involved. Tam. Mick. And the group. I feel words were put in our mouths. Like we were supporting it. This is not the case and our faces said it all. End of.”
VIEWERS OUTRAGED
After coming clean about their relationship, the experts agreed to let Dan and Jess stay in the experiment.
Their decision was met with anger on social media with some fans even starting to a petition to get the show taken off air.
“Tonight’s episode of Jess and Dan ‘hooking up” and the therapists allowing them to continue in the experiment is outrageous,” the petition says.
“This show has highlighted and given the message that adultery, cheating, lying and partner swapping is OK and you’ll be rewarded if you partake in it. It’s wrong and immoral and should be banned from ever being broadcasted again. Shame on you Channel 9.”
The petition has more than 9900 signatures so far.
There is no way in hell I'll keep watching this show. There is no way in hell I'll watch Jessika and Dan's smug relationship built on lies. No way in hell I'll watch evil Martha enabling that idiot. @MarriedAU this is feral. I spit on your show! #mafs #mafsaus #boycottmafs

If you really believe there is something there LEAVE the experiment, if it is real it will withstand the long distance. Jess & Dan have literally wasted Tam & Micks time & the fact the experts have let them stay is disgusting. I will not continue watching until the reunion. #MAFS

This season of married at first sight has just confirmed that these experts DO NOT CARE. So much toxicity with no intervention from trained therapists. #MAFS

Isn't the whole point of this experiment to see if couples chosen by the so called 'experts' can work?? All they are doing is condoning adultery! Ratings over ethics is appalling #MAFS
