The Married At First Sight narrator is key to the entertainment value of the episodes, delivering comical statements in a stern tone as she sets the bizarre scenes.

And now, it’s been revealed a prominent Australian actress is the women behind the crisp voice, having narrated the Channel 9 series since 2018.

Taking over the reins from Nine presenter Georgie Gardner, who filled the role for the first four seasons, NIDA graduate Helen Dallimore has been unmasked as the show’s longstanding narrator.

Dallimore, who appears to have not given any interviews about her time working on the series, has a prolific background in theatre, film and television, having graduated from the acclaimed drama school in 1995.

She went on to debut the iconic role of Glinda in the West End production of Wicked alongside Idinia Menzel as Elphaba, starring in the musical for a year from 2006.

Her other stage performances include playing Cinderella in the London Open Air Theatre production of Into the Woods, Paulette Bonafonte in the Australian premiere of Legally Blonde The Musical and more recently, as Judy Garland in The State Theatre Company of South Australia production of End of the Rainbow.

In film, Dallimore has worked alongside Glenn Close and Harry Connick Jr. in the 2001 TV remake of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical South Pacific, with further credits in mostly Aussie feature films including Mr. Accident, Russian Doll, The Extra and Two Heads Creek.

On the silver screen, Dallimore has starred in a slew of beloved local shows including Water Rats, All Saints, Home and Away, House Husbands, Here Come the Habibs, and overseas, the popular UK crime drama Midsomer Murders in 2006.

MAFS first began airing in Australia in 2015.

It’s been a behemoth for Channel 9 ever since, unrivalled in the prime time ratings for the first part of the year.
