MAFS Tracey Jewel slams Hit 107 radio show for ‘bullying’

TRACEY Jewel has sent a furious message to an Adelaide radio host, accusing him and his co-hosts of “bullying” her in a trainwreck interview.

MAFS Ep 32 Recap: The Season Finale

MARRIED At First Sight star Tracey Jewel has slammed an Adelaide radio show, accusing them of “bullying” her during a publicity chat for her new book.

Speaking to hit 107’s Amos, Cat and Angus, the reality TV alum was grilled on everything from her controversial co-star Dean Wells to the glaringly obvious errors in her self-help book, This Goddess Means Business.

While Jewel seemed fairly good-natured about their questions at the time, it was clear from a private follow-up message she sent to one of the hosts that she was actually furious.

“Thanks for having me … but sorry to say I’m appalled at that interview,” she wrote to Amos Gill on Instagram.

“Considering all the bullying I get online I expected more from a radio station.”

Gill shared the message on his Instagram story.

During the interview, Jewel was mocked by the hosts over a spelling mistake she’d made in an acronym in her book.

“Let me talk about your book for a second. It’s called The Goddess Means Business — I hate to put you on the spot, but can you spell ‘goddess’ for me?” Angus O’Loughlin asked her.

Laughing awkwardly, she replied: “I know what you’re talking about — in the book [the word ‘goddess’ is missing an ‘S for my acronym to work … I get it, I get it.”

For those who haven’t picked up a copy, he was referring to this excerpt on page 11:

Awkward.
Awkward.

“Well, it’s missing a ‘D’, because you’ve done ‘G-O-D-E-S-S’, so not a good start,” he replied.

Later, the conversation turned to Jewel’s high-profile breakup with former MAFS castmate, Sean Thomsen.

In a tell-all interview with New Idea last month, the mum-of-one revealed she had dumped him after five months of dating.

“Because he works away and I’ve been away a lot, I had to wait until when I picked him up from the airport and I just told him straight away,” Jewel told the magazine. “I couldn’t even wait for him to get into the frigging car.”

And O’Loughlin didn’t pull any punches when he called her out on the brutal way she’d handled it.

“I wasn’t too impressed, although I’ll let you have the right of reply, when I heard that you were so enthused to break up with Sean that you couldn’t even wait for him to get in the car when he arrived from the airport,” he told her.

“That seems like a harsh — not only way to break up with somebody — but thing to write and be so public … how do you justify that?”

“There’s a lot more to this story that goes on behind the scenes that I’m not going to throw [Sean] under the bus about, but yeah … I wasn’t going to break up with him while he was on a FIFO trip, so yeah, I did break up with him when he got back to Perth,” she answered.

At the end of the chat, the hosts managed to sneak in another sly dig at her book gaffe.

“Thank you for catching up with us, and good luck with the book — it’s spelt right on the cover,” O’Loughlin told her, before Gill chimed in with a jab at her misspelled attempt at an acronym.

“Tracey, ‘P’ — thanks for coming on, ‘R’ — really enjoyed the chat, ‘A’ — for Amos would have you back any time, ‘C’ — can’t be bothered finishing this …”

Clearly sensing they may have gone too far, co-host Cat Lynch quickly jumped in to smooth things over.

“Tracey, honestly though — your good humour … No, I’m serious,” she told the other presenters.

“She can’t hang up and think, like …”

“Nah, it’s all good,” Jewel told them, before saying goodbye.

Judging by her follow-up message, that may not have been entirely true.
