MAFS star Michael Goonan has become known for his outlandish statements both on and off screen, but his latest comment may just take the cake.

Speaking to Nova 100's Chrissie, Sam and Browny earlier this week, the 28-year-old company director made a baffling link between the social experiment and coronavirus social distancing measures.

Speaking about how many of this season’s biggest scandals took place behind the scenes – only playing out through intense arguments at dinner parties – the reality star likened the contestants’ behaviour to those who flout social distancing rules.

“Picture coronavirus, you've got Scott Morrison telling you to stay at home and you've got everyone running around,” he began.

“People don't like to do what they're told sometimes, sometimes you sneak out, you know what I mean?,” he said.

He went on to call his cast mates “20 of the most damaged people in society”.

“You picked 20 of the most damaged people in society and threw them into the experiment and (said) ‘there's the rule books guys, you failed at Tinder but succeed at this,’ come on!”

Earlier this week, Michael appeared on radio to explain his surprising reaction to the season’s latest cheating scandal – involving his “wife” Stacey Hampton and fellow contestant Mikey Pembroke.

The confession by Mikey leaving him speechless amid the fiery he-said she-said that broke out across the dinner table as his wife fought to defend herself.

Chatting to Krysti and Bodge on the Hit Mid North Coast radio station, Michael said he chose not to sledge his wife in front of the group, because he preferred to discuss the alleged one night stand in private.

“I said, ‘Are there any messages? Please tell me there are no messages.’ That was my opportunity to have her back,” Michael said on radio.

Stacey told him there were no messages, but then Mikey grabbed his phone and showed them to the table, and the evidence was damning.

It was at that point that Michael determined Stacey was lying, but he still didn’t want to tear her down in front of the group.

“When you’re in this journey with someone, you do have respect for them,” he said. “She has two beautiful little boys. For me to out her and join in with the rest of the group wasn’t necessary.

“My decision was made then, (but) I stayed quiet,” he continued. “I didn’t want to bury her, I let her keep her class, well, I tried to let her keep her class.

“I decided that it was best to speak about our relationship behind closed doors … We had the chat when we got back to the hotel that night.”

In a separate interview with Nova’s Chrissie, Sam & Browny, Michael revealed what was said when they got back to the hotel.

“I said, ‘Listen, we all make mistakes. What I can live with is the truth, but I can’t live with the lies.’ She continued to tell me that it never happened,” Michael said on Nova.

“I said, ‘Look, there’s probably too much doubt for me to continue in this catastrophe. Let’s just have a hug and I’ll see you later.’ She goes, ‘I don’t need to hug you.’”

Michael went on to say there was no doubt in his mind that Stacey had slept with Mikey.
