MAFS star Davina slams show: ‘It was the worst’

“Cheating” bride Davina Rankin has delivered a scathing attack on Nine’s dating show, describing it as “the worst”.

Davina Rankin became one of the most talked-about contestants in Australia’s reality TV history after appearing on Married At First Sight and having an “affair” with someone else’s groom earlier this year.

The Brisbane-based model, 27, endured a torrent of abuse from viewers after “cheating” on her on-screen “husband” Ryan Gallagher by meeting up with Dean Wells behind his back.

During a no-holds-barred Instagram Q&A with her followers, Davina — who’s currently in a relationship — responded with “hell f***ing no” when asked whether she’d ever consider appearing on the reality show again.

“I can’t even watch reality TV the same anymore after I know what happens behind the scenes compared to what the public see’s (sic),” she said.

Davina and Ryan’s ‘marriage’ went up in flames on the show.

“Was it horrible to watch MAFS and see the editing? You seem so beautiful inside and out,” another fan asked.

“Oh it was the worst, but I mean, it makes it even sweeter when you can still hold your head high even after having the lowest of lows,” Davina answered.

“And at the end of the day, you’ll always come out on top! Life couldn’t be better for me now.”

Davina has been dating cafe owner Jaxon Manuel, 31, for the past eight months.

Davina was the TV personality Australia loved to hate during her time on Married At First Sight. Viewers were shocked to see her arranging a secret date with Dean behind her “husband” Ryan’s back.

The pair got touchy-feely behind their partners’ backs.

The unfaithful spouses then made a secret pact to leave their respective partners, only to have the arrangement fall apart when Dean backed out at the last minute and confessed to everything instead.

Amid heavy backlash while the “affair” was playing out on TV, Davina told Nine’s A Current Affair that she’d been completely “misunderstood”.

“I’m not just the b**ch people saw on TV,” she told the program.

Davina also opened up about struggling to cope with the abuse from strangers.

“It’s not nice to know people hate you so much,” she said.

“You know, social media, it’s my job (and it’s) been such a positive space for me but I copped a lot of flak, a lot of mean stuff … about my appearance; in the street, they would say how they would assault me, wishing that I was dead. It’s insane. Even though it’s words, words still carry a lot of weight.”
