MAFS star Daniel Holmes shares concerning post from hospital bed

Daniel Holmes – who was infamously embroiled in a major scandal on MAFS last year – has shared a harrowing update with fans.

Former Married At First Sight star Daniel Holmes has opened up about his horrifying ordeal, stemming from “an old injury done in the gym” that he’d ignored for months.

The reality TV star, 32, infamously sparked up a relationship with Carolina Santos in season nine of the controversial show, while she was already “married” to Dion Giannarelli, but the pair called it quits last year.

On Thursday, he shared a picture of himself giving the peace sign from a Royal Brisbane Hospital bed, explaining in the caption that he’d just undergone surgery.

“L4-L5 herniated disc with nerve compression surgery done,” Holmes wrote.

“An old injury done in the gym that I should have had surgery on years ago. Instead I did what dudes do best and just said she’ll be right!

“The past couple months it’s gotten so bad that there’s been no ignoring it though.

“I’ve ended up in the emergency department three separate times because of this, it’s honestly been hell can’t even explain the pain at times.

But very glad it’s done, it’s almost surreal to know that I won’t be in pain anymore, so happy.”

Holmes wrapped up with a message for fellow workout enthusiasts: “Take care in the gym, please warm up before doing heavy lifting. These type of injuries in the weight room are far too common.”

During the 2022 MAFS season, Holmes was paired with “bride” Jessica Seracino but quickly realised his attraction to Santos, who was struggling to make a connection with her own partner.

The pair quietly dated in secret before revealing their deception and unsuccessfully requesting to re-enter the experiment together.

However, they continued to date outside the show for months before eventually announcing that they'd called time on their relationship in August 2022.

“I’m getting bombarded so much at the moment considering all the articles out right now about the status of Carolina and I,” Holmes wrote on Instagram at the time.

“I think it’s been obvious for a while we have gone our separate ways. There’s no right way to deal with these situations.

“There’s a huge pressure to just hold off going public for as long as possible cause you know all the hate that’s gonna come.

“I wish Carolina all the best and I know she feels the same for me, we had a very unique experience together full of every emotion possible but life just has a different plan for us.”
