MAFS groom Harrison fires up on air over explosive screenshots

Bombshell screenshots made him an early favourite to take over as this season’s villain – but controversial groom Harrison is pinning the blame squarely elsewhere.

First look at MAFS 2023

A Married At First Sight groom has fired up in a live radio interview amid heavy backlash over claims he had a girlfriend waiting for him outside the controversial experiment.

There’s (at least) one every year – and after just one episode of MAFS, it’s pretty clear Sydney builder Harrison Boon, 32, has been cast as this season’s villain.

Following a promising start to his “marriage” with Bronte Schofield, 28, the happy union quickly turned sour in last night’s premiere after she was warned by one of her wedding guests, Jessica Tomlinson, that he had allegedly also been dating a friend of hers.

Even worse: the friend claimed that he’d promised they’d be together when filming wrapped on the controversial reality series.

The bombshell revelation led to an emotional showdown between Bronte and Harrison, during which he denied making any such plans, but admitted he’d been dating “a number of girls” prior to the show.

In an interview with Nova FM’s Fitzy and Wippa show this morning, Harrison pinned the blame for all the drama squarely on the messenger.

“I was going to wait (to tell Bronte) until I was firmly in a relationship, until I could chat about who I am and my history, and also my (three-year-old son) got brought up in a really negative way,” he said.

“I really felt like that moment of explaining my private life was ripped out from under me and done in such a negative way by this guest at our wedding, who was clearly just trying to make the day about herself and ruin our moment.”

Jess Tomlinson spilled the beans to her friend, Bronte.

Viewers were left stunned during the premiere as Jessica pulled Bronte aside to reveal the shocking news.

“I have a friend who is from Sydney. She told me about this guy that is going on to MAFS that she has been dating for the last month and a half,” she told her.

“I spoke to her, she told me how he’s saying (he) wants to be with her when he finishes this experiment. … It’s Harrison. He’s pretty much been planning a future with this young girl. And he’s planning on being with her after this experience.”

Meanwhile, Harrison’s fiery radio interview came as his “girl on the outside” was unmasked as none other than The Bachelors’ Abby Miller, who had reportedly been seeing him in the weeks leading up to the wedding.

In leaked texts from a Bachelors’ WhatsApp group shared by the Daily Mail, Abby appears to discuss her casual relationship with Harrison.

“Hey everyone I am currently talking to the single dad,” she wrote in one message, with a second showing a picture of his suitcase: “He is packing for MAFS ahaha.”

Despite Jess’ claims to Bronte at their wedding, Harrison insisted that he’d been upfront with Abby.

“Abby was not waiting for me on the outside, she has her own life,” he told Fitzy and Wippa.

“She knew exactly what I was doing, I was very upfront about it. We actually said our goodbyes, and that was a bit of time before I went into the experiment and got married.”

Married At First Sight continues tonight at 7.30pm on Nine.
