MAFS bride Olivia Frazer makes worrying statement

Olivia Frazer has given her most concerning interview yet as she attempts to move on from her villain portrayal. Warning: Confronting.

When does celebrity backlash go too far?

Married At First Sight bride Olivia Frazer has made confronting claims about her mental state.

The 28-year-old former teaching student, who lost her job amid backlash over her villain portrayal on the Channel 9 series, said she was “really, really depressed” on the Where’s Your Head At? podcast, which will go live tomorrow.

“I’ve never had depression like this,” Olivia told co-hosts Anna McEvoy and Matt Zukowski.

“I’ve honestly never been this close to – sorry to get a bit graphic – really thinking about taking my own life.”

Olivia made the confronting admission during the interview with her TV ‘husband’ Jackson Lonie, 30, who she’s now living with in Newcastle.

She credited his support for helping her get through the difficult time.

“To have Jack be my absolute anchor [through this], I think it speaks to the relationship and the man he is,” she said.

In a glimmer of hope, Olivia said it was “only in the last week” she noticed she was starting to feel happy again.

“Now it’s a bit like … Smile and wave,” she added.

The comment comes a few weeks after Olivia was filmed by TV gossip site The Washsaying she wanted to “throw herself off the balcony” during filming.

“You said that as a joke, right?” the male interviewer can be heard asking her.

Olivia responded: “Yeah, but I was like … seriously distraught. I was not suicidal, but I was that upset.”

The reality star is currently unemployed after revealing in March she was fired from her job “as a direct result” of the show.

However, Olivia backtracked during the podcast interview, saying she was actually forced to resign.

“So it was a situation where it was, ‘We need you to resign or other things are gonna have to happen here’,” Olivia said.

“[But] they loved me. They did everything they could to keep me. Unfortunately where I was working, I won’t get into it too much, but it’s a place that’s got its own troubles in the press so it doesn’t need the pile on that is Olivia Frazer.”

Olivia said she was planning to get her Master’s degree so her credentials would ultimately make landing employment “inarguable”.

“Working for them was my lifelong dream and I hope I’ll be able to get back there one day,” she said.

Elsewhere in the interview, Olivia stood by claims her negative portrayal was the result of manipulative producers and tricky editing, claiming most of the cast thought fellow bride Domenica Calarco was going to be the show’s “villain.”

“I never said anything that wasn’t warranted, and I had a lot of support from the majority of the group for a good reason,” Olivia said.

“People aren’t stupid. Our cast mates … Most of them are intelligent, compassionate people and they had my back for good reason.

“Everybody [thought Domenica was going to be the villain]. We thought that’s what she was there to do.”

Olivia also claimed she’d heard whispers that Domenica and Jack contacted 2021 MAFS contestants Bryce Ruthven and Melissa Rawson to gain their advice on how to handle getting a bad edit, as they were under the impression they would be the new villains.

“This is allegedly, but they were seeking advice from former cast members,” Olivia said.
