Former Married At First Sight Australia star Olivia Frazer has opened up about a terrifying incident that left her fearing for her life after she claims she was given the “villain edit” on the reality show.

It has been two years since she appeared on the Nine program, produced by Endemol Shine, but the aftermath of her time on the show remains top of mind.

Speaking to the ABC, Olivia claimed she was painted as the bad guy of her season and, as a result, she believes she became one of the most hated people in Australia.

Not only was she trolled and received death threats on social media, but Olivia said she also copped abuse when a car full of women drove to her home on a random Saturday night to scream profanities from the car window.

“Then I just hear four or five middle-aged women screaming, ‘Olivia, you’re a c**t. Die, piggy!’” she said.

Olivia said her start on MAFS was like a fairytale – she was matched with Jackson Lonie on the social experiment, and the chemistry was instant.

However, it went downhill quickly when she said she was encouraged to share a personal story that “had teeth” so she could have a “backbone” on the show. But when she opened up about her bridesmaid story which caused a breakdown of her friendship with the bride, the tides began to shift.

Olivia says every time she thinks she can continue to live her life, there is a new wave of hate aimed in her direction.

On the show at the time, Olivia revealed she was due to be a bridesmaid for her friend. But when she criticised the colour of the bridesmaids' dresses, likening it to poo, the friendship was over and she was dismissed from the bridal party.

“I think that was where “we’re going to cast her as a villain” started,” she claimed to the ABC. The show has denied that anybody received “villain edits”, saying participants “get the edits they deserve”.

“I have to tell the story and it gets chopped and changed to make it look like I’m this psycho who’s super proud of this absolutely outrageous thing that I had done years ago,” Olivia said.

She said the backlash was immediate and it left her “definitely suicidal”.

“They made me look like a criminal on the biggest show in Australia. And I didn’t sign up to be framed as a criminal,” she said.

Every time she thinks she has finally rid herself of the show and the hate has dissipated, her MAFS season is aired in a new country.

“I think the last country it aired in was Sweden. And I only found that out because I started getting death threats in Swedish,” she shared.
