The MAFS star’s attempt to amp up the romance has spectacularly misfired, with viewers slamming his tone deaf choice of date.

MAFS 2019 Episode 35 Recap: Rough Seas Ahead

Married At First Sight’s Mike Gunner’s attempt to take Heidi Latcham on a romantic date has backfired spectacularly, with viewers slamming his “oblivious” reaction to his partner’s discomfort.

During Tuesday night’s episode it was Mike’s chance to leave a lasting good impression on Heidi before next week’s vow renewal ceremony.

Bringing out the big guns, Mike decided to take Heidi on a sailing trip through Sydney Harbour.

But there was just one problem; a seasick Heidi can’t stand boats and had even told Mike this during their honeymoon.

“Being on a boat, it’s not fun and romantic for me … my worst nightmare,” Heidi fumed.

As their date continued things got worse, with Mike seemingly oblivious to Heidi’s discomfort as he decided to climb up to the crow’s nest to look out across the water.

Returning back to deck, Mike asked how Heidi feeling about their relationship ahead of their vow renewal, and she did not hold back.

“I just felt a little bit, I felt frustrated,” she admitted to her “husband’s” shock.

“Frustrated? With me or with the process?” Mike asked.

“With you,” Heidi replied.

Heidi was concerned the two weren’t seeing eye-to-eye on issues, while Mike argued that he shouldn’t need to keep reassuring her.

“Far out. I’ve spent two months trying to reassure her about how great we are. But we’ve definitely got some things that we’ve got to work through, even at this point,” he told producers.

“You know, she knows I care. She knows I care. I suppose by this point I wanted to think that you and I had, you know, would have just worked it out.”

With the pair on shaky waters, viewers panned Mike’s decision to choose a boat for their final date.

Other viewers slammed Heidi for being “too negative” about the poorly chosen date, but Twitter had reached a verdict: Heidi and Mike were definitely done.
