Kanye West makes surprise appearance at American Idol auditions
KANYE West stunned the judges on American Idol when he showed up at the show’s auditions in San Francisco on Saturday.
BEFORE taking a run at president, Kanye West decided to try his luck in a popularity contest of a different kind.
Making one of his more bizarre surprise appearances, the rapper stunned the judges on American Idol when he showed up at the show’s auditions in San Francisco on Saturday.
Performing an a cappella version of Gold Digger, judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick, Jr., and Keith Urban could barely believe their eyes when they realised Yeezy himself had walked in.
The 38-year-old superstar couldn’t stop smiling as he punked the panel, and he even walked away with a golden ticket to compete in the next round in Hollywood.
J.Lo danced and sang along from her seat as Kanye performed his hit 2005 single, which includes a reference to the singer herself — “My psychic told me she have an a** like Serena, Trina, Jennifer Lopez.”
Ryan Seacrest later posted a photo of Kanye celebrating backstage with proud wife Kim Kardashian. “Look who’s going to Hollywood! #IdolAuditions,” the host captioned the pic.
While Kanye may not be serious about competing on the 15th and final season of the singing show, he does sound serious about his intention to run for president in 2020.
US President Barack Obama kindly offered the rapper some helpful advice on his White House bid over the weekend.
Speaking at San Francisco’s historic Warfield Theater on Saturday, Obama quipped: “You’ve got to deal with strange characters who behave as if they are on a reality TV show.
“Do you really think that this country is going to elect a black guy from the south side of Chicago with a funny name to be president of the United States? That is crazy,” he joked, adding that Kanye has his own nickname for the person in the White House, “Peezy.”
