Justin’s relatable kitchen error may see him eliminated from MasterChef

During a frantic pressure test, Justin makes an incredibly relatable measuring mistake that might just end his time on the show.

Tuesday night’s episode of MasterChef will see the top five contestants face a pressure test like no other.

Executive chef Hugh Allen from Melbourne’s celebrated restaurant Vue Du Monde has set the contestants the challenge of recreating his dish: bottlebrush, mum’s gum nuts and billy buttons, which he created in lockdown thanks to his love of native fauna and flora.

The contestants have 225 minutes to cook Hugh’s dish.

Whoever’s dish least resembles Hugh’s dish will be sent home.

Unfortunately, it’s looking like that may be Justin.

In a clip shared with news.com.au, Justin realises that he has made a grave error (one that we’re sure every home cook has made before).

Justin thinks he is in a good place, having already cooked three elements in the elimination cook. He realises, however, that he has been measuring his ingredients in ounces, not grams as the recipe has called for.

Justin says: “As I’m using the scale, I realise it’s been set to ounces not grams. The recipe stated grams. I’ve made the first three elements but I’ve used the wrong quantities. What the heck have I done?”

“I was in a good spot …. My game plan was not to make mistakes … that’s already gone out the window.”

Things are heating up now, with the remaining cooks set to enter Finals Week next week.

The winner of MasterChef 2021 will be announced on Tuesday, 13 July.
