Judges revealed for Masked Singer 2022
Chrissie Swan says she’s “thrilled” to have landed this new reality TV role, which will see her going head to head with Abbie Chatfield.
Social media influencer Abbie Chatfield, beloved broadcaster Chrissie Swan and Spice Girl Mel B will be joining Dave Hughes on the judging panel for the 2022 edition of The Masked Singer Australia.
Chatfield and Swan posted the announcements to their Instagram accounts on Thursday night, both saying they were “thrilled” to be joining the judging panel.
Aussie talent show judging veteran Mel B also posted about her enthusiasm for returning to Australia.
“I’m bringing all my secret inside knowledge to this. But more to the point, I’m bringing the fun,” she said.
“Fasten your seatbelts everyone, it’s going to be a rollercoaster ride.”
There’s no official premiere date for season four of the popular show.
It comes after a mass exodus from the show’s judging panel, with radio host Jackie O leaving, comedian Urzila Carlson quitting to continue her stand-up career, and singer Dannii Minogue exiting to host a new reality series in the UK.
The show scored big last year with international pop star Anastacia revealed as the season’s winner.
Anastacia, comedian and presenter Em Rusciano and former Australian Idol contestant Axle Whitehead were the final three contestants to be unmasked during the 2021 season.
Anastacia was arguably this season’s biggest ‘get’ – a platinum-selling international pop star who had the biggest song in Australia back in 2000 with her mega-hit I’m Outta Love. That was the first of a string of hit singles and albums for the 53-year-old singer.
Anastacia said she was drawn to take part in the show because it gave her a chance to perform during the pandemic.
“The industry is completely frozen. We have no stages to go on, we can‘t have crowds, and I understand that because I want to keep people safe, but I miss doing my job and I really, really miss singing. And so this was such a beautiful, like, get out of jail free card,” she said.
