Jock, Melissa and Andy’s insanely dramatic reaction to a failed dish on MasterChef

As contestant Eric makes mistake after mistake in a frantic elimination cook, one error sends the judges into a wild spin of disbelief.

MasterChef contestants will be fighting for their place in the competition during an elimination challenge on Sunday night’s episode.

If the clips shared with news.com.au are anything to go by, things aren’t looking good for contestant Eric, who is absolutely frantic in the kitchen during his cook.

While attempting to make a pasta carbonara, the cook not only sets fire to one of his baking trays, but eventually makes a dire decision in the final minutes of the challenge.

While judges Jock Zonfrillo, Melissa Leong and Andy Allen watched on in panic, Eric attempted to create a classic carbonara sauce.

Unfortunately, his pan is far too hot to put his pasta in, and as the clock ticked on, he made the decision to throw it in and the judges instantaneously reacted by falling to the floor and groaning at his mistake.

“I’ve just had mini disaster in the kitchen and now I’m losing a lot of confidence,” Eric said to the camera, aware that he has just set fire to a tray.

“Everything is disorganised, everything is frantic. It’s not going well at all.

“I’ve got to get my pasta cooked and get onto actually making the carbonara itself. Whatever happens, I cannot waste time in making another big mistake.”

Unfortunately, that is exactly what happens.

“The art of making a beautiful carbonara lies in the emulsification step. Mixing the sauce and the pasta water...” he continues.

The next scene showed Eric holding up his congealed cooked pasta in the air with a pair of tongs, ready to chuck it into a pan.

“Oh no,” he said.

“What are you doing Eric,” Melissa mused to herself at the front of the kitchen.

“The pan is far too hot. I cannot emulsify and create a beautiful and luscious sauce in a pan that is that hot,” Eric continued.

“I don’t have much of a choice...”

Only watching MasterChef on Channel 10 Sunday night at 7:30pm will reveal if this huge mistake will send Eric home or not.
